Topic: PCP recommendations???
Does anyone know of a PCP in the salt lake area who knows how to work with insurance companies to get approval for weightloss surgery? I'm just beginning the process. My insurance covers the surgery, but I need to do a doctor-supervised weightloss trial before I can get approval. I don't have a PCP right now, so I'm looking for one who has experience with this kind of thing...especially if they've worked with Aetna insurance. thanks!
Topic: We are in the final ...
We are in the final testing stages on the beta site for the NEW look for Obesityhelp. If you haven't looked please do so.
http://beta.Obesityhelp.com The full roll out will probably be sometime tomorrow afternoon. The site will be totally different, many of the same things, just better organized and added features.
This change is essential for the many features that have asked for, uploading your own photos, profile privacy options, profile blogs, private messaging, etc. These will NOT all be in place for the change over, but will be coming VERY soon after the beta site is live. We have listened to member concerns with the site and message boards and are working on those things one step at a time.
Be advised that we don't anticipate any problems, however anytime that you make changes, you never know what may happen. We will quickly address any issues that come up during the changes.
Thanks for your patience as we strive to give you what you have asked for. :)

Topic: RE: Gaining weight
Hey Lucia,
I wish you had more info on your profile to see how things have gone. First thing that came to mind is that if you're gaining weight then you're taking in more calories than your burning. Maybe look at how much and/or the quality of food being taken in. Keep a food journal and go to Fitday.com and see exactly what it is all adding up to. Second, make sure you're getting your water in, lots of it, and for sure your protein. Third suggestion? Exersize more with cardio and weight resistance. Fourth, which should be first really....see your doctor and maybe get a fill. You can always get back on track at anytime with the band. Just get a fill. Where are you in your journey? I don't know if you've hit your ideal weight and just added a few lbs or you have added 30lbs. Go back to the basics that got you this far is my final answer. Good luck, let me know how you're doing. Later, Andre
Topic: RE: I got approval!!!
Hey Stefani,
You should have a meeting with Dr. Richards here pretty soon right? Share this info with her at that time and keep a food journal until then. Call Jolene or Andrea or Amber and use them for info and support. As far as my opinion? You will stretch the pouch out to a pt. where you can eat 6 to 8 oz. per sitting. Your pouch should be pretty well healed by now i think. Some types of food you can eat more of than others. Like scrambled eggs versus hard boiled eggs. It's just the consistancy factor. Maybe re read your manual on the foods you should be eating. I'm lapband of course but i don't eat breakfast, just thick juices and coffee, but by night fall i can eat 8 oz. I'm not worried cause i eat good healthy food and i'm not stuffing myself. Dr. Richards told me to eat till i was 85% full. That way you keep the pouch size as small as possible for longer. Maybe try eating faster to fill up quicker. You're losing so much weight. Congrats. I probably wont recognize you at the next meeting. Are you going to be there? You'll have to say hi to me. You have a picture of me so you know who i am. I would call Jolene and talk to her first thing Monday. Let me know if there's anything i can do for ya. Later, Andre
