I just had my RNY with Dr Sherman Smith, a partner of Dr Halversons and I would highly recommend the whole group and Dr Smith in particular. Their aftercare has been great so far and I have called everyday with questions since myr elease from the hospital. Also and the most important, very low complications rate with the group, theyve been doing this a long time.

If you search through the site here I know many of the SLC docs are listed. I have heard great things, from others, about Chad Halverson. Best of luck!

Good morning Utahns, I had my rny last monday, Aug 21st, after 5 years of trying for approval with different insurance companies and finally self paying. My surgeon is Dr Smith from RMAP here in Salt Lake. I did the magnesium citrtate sunday night, not as bad as Id been afraid of. I arrived at Cottonwood hospital at 6 AM monday morning, checked in and was prepped. I had an incredible surgical nurse named Cyndi whom I can never thank enough for her compassion and understanding. I chatted a little with the anesthesiologist and with Dr Smith beforehand and then the last thing I remember is being rolled into the OR. I woke up, not as bad as Id been afraid of, they told me to take some deep breaths, then I was in my room. I barely remember the recovery room. I slept off and on then got up to go to the bathroom, not as bad as Id been afraid of (there's a theme here). Took a walk around the floor, was amazed how little pain I had and came home the next afternoon. I filled my pain prescription just in case but havent even needed tylenol since Ive been home. I have a weird sensation when I eat my clear liquid meals, I can feel it trickle into my pouch, not unpleasant at all, just weird. I think its still a little swollen at the opening. Best to all in whatever stage you are in this journey. Annette

Hi everyone, Im hooome!! I feel great, had very little pain and none now. I just cant believe how little pain there has been. I had a little trouble today while at the hospital because my liquid meals wouldnt go in but a call to Dr Smith (the man is a saint in my book) and his tip to sit bolt upright when I eat fixed that. Im walking all the time and sipping water every minute. Yeah, Im a loser!! Already off high blood pressure and high cholesterol medicine, still taking asthma inhalers and synthroid. Life is good. I'm planning to hike Mt. Timpanogas today and take pictures of the sunset. 18 miles roundtrip. Haven't done it in 2 years. Figure i'll get all my exercise in for the week in one day. lol. Good luck and don't fall off the ATV. Andre
