Topic: medicaid anyone?
after my extensive journey and long distance consultation trying to find a surgeon in my area (utah) to do lapband surgery on medicare, i finally spoke to someone that was honest enough to tell me that although the medicare center of excellence paperwork has been filed and although many doctors are close to approval, she actually suggested to me that we could try straight medicaid and would probably get approval that way with my bmi and comorbidities. previously being told that they never pay for much so doctors dont accept it anymore, i am elated to know that there is a chance that i could be approved without waiting for medicare approvals. what i am wondering is if anyone has been covered on medicaid and what hoops they had to jump through to get surgery scheduled. what do they require? is it hard? i mean regardless i will do it and know it can be a pain in the butt but i am curious enough to ask and try to be prepared for things. if you have any info please contact me. thanks.
