I have been fighting obesity since I was about 7, and I am tired of it, I really think I would like to try the surgery, as I have tried everything else, as I am sure everyone else here is too. What I worry about is not ever being able to stop the madness, as I am a low income working person, it is true that I now make more than I ever have, driving a truck, but it is still not enough, does anyone have any words of wisdom, or comfort, or even some hope that even I might be able to get this help, of a surgery that is last I heard about ten thousand dollars? :-S

Check with Blue Cross Blue Shield. I hear they have individual policies that will cover.

So I am headed to my pre surgery consult 2 hour info thingy on Tuesday. I have Altius as my insurance, but it is through PEHP. I have a feeling that I am going to be denied, so I am wondering if anyone out there knows of a good self pay insurance that will cover RNY that I could just purchase myself? I am getting desperate. I started this journey about 4 yrs ago, my insurance at the time would not cover even after 2 appeals. I have recently moved to UT, and now work for the city of Salt Lake, you would think they would have an insurance that covers, but no, and I just do not have the self pay resourses that I would need as in a house to re mortgage, or anything of the nature, so my last resort is to buy my own insurance and hope that it would work that way....ANY information would be so greatful
