Hi Esther!  Just wanted to let you know that Syracuse is just minutes from where I live.  It's a great place to live!   Would love to help you anyway I can! Tammy

I like Rocky Mountain associated Physicians.  My doctor is Dr. Smith.  Check out their website at www.utahbariatrics.com.  Good Luck and welcome to UTAH!

Topic: RE: Who did you choose for your surgery?

My husband and I originally choose Dr. Smith because he was one of the most experienced surgeons in the area.  (my husband was well over 450 lbs and we were worried about dangers of the surgery.  Dr. Smith has done tons of gastric bypasses and has been with Rocky Mountain the longest.  He is also part of the center of excellence, which is given to only the top 5% of hospitals and is based on the lowest rate of complications from surgery.  I  also attended a class he taught and I was impressed with both his knowledge and approchability.         On the day of surgery, After my husbands' gastric bypass, Dr. Smith came out into the waiting room and talked to me and I felt very reassured after talking to him.  My husband had no complications at all and had a great recovery.       When I decided to do the lap band I chose Dr. Smith again.  He does not have the most experience with the lap band out of all the doctorrs in his practice, but I felt he had tons of experience in doing laprascopic surgeries and the lap band is easier than the bypass.         Rocky Mountain is also awesome at working with insurances.  Paula knows what is covered by which companies and saved me a lot of time and aggravation by helping me get what I needed to submit to the insurance the first time.        So far I have had a great experience with him for both of our sugeries. Hope this helps you!  Good luck in chosing the right one for you!
