Topic: RE: Able to eat too much right out of surgery?
There are 2 possibilities.  First yougrt is a slider food and it doesn't stay in your pouch so if you ate slowly it probably just went through.  Also this early out from surgery you really don't have a sense of being full and you can really cause problems if you eat more than your recommended portion.   I was told to not eat more than 2 oz and stop at the first sign that I was satisfied.   Please be careful this early out, follow your Dr instructions about what and how much you should eat.   Amy

Get a job with Discover card in West Valley.  I have only worked there 2 months and already had surgery. 90% covered.

I am just 1 week out of a laproscopic gastric bypass & I remember my mom and friend having trouble eating more than 2 bites for the longest time.  I just ate a full 6 oz yoplait yogart and only stopped because I assumed it was enough.  No pain, or feeling of full.  Isn't this odd?  I dont want to over eat & I am nervous that I did all this for nothing.

I had mine thru richards partner Dr. Daniel Cottam.  He is shy and quiet but a much better bedside manner.  I went to him due to his extremely great statistics.  I love him but was less than impressed with Salt Lake Regional Hospital.

I am curious to know how much weight you have lost since this last post?  What happened to you is what I am afraid of.  I am afraid I will get the surgery and I wont loose alot of weight.  I am diabetic and I have insulin resistance!! I once detoxed for 10 days drinking only the lemon water concoction and only lost 4lbs, and gained it back once I ate for one day!! I don't want to go through so much life change to only loose 20 - 40 lbs, so I am hoping you started back loosing in a big way and are you diabetic?

Hello I am going to a seminar soon to in Layton this Tuesday 3/11/08, I am looking for people that have made the decision and are in the process or they are on the other side and can let me know how things are going.  I am scared to definately say yes right now, I want to have the surgery and I definately need it I weigh 268 and I am 5ft 4in I have diabetes 2, high blood, etc so you would think the decision would be a no brainer but I scared of not making it through the surgery. I wish you luck with your seminar and a positive move forward.

Nick, I have talked to a few people on the board and they say that Dr Richards doesn't allow self pay for the RNY, just due to the fact if you have complications, it can be financially devistating.   I've actually found another Dr in SLC that will do it for a few thousand less and he actually did the RNY for my cousin and her husband!  Thanks for your reply!!  :) Christie
