RMAP support meetings are for all comers.  It doesn't matter if you are post- or pre- op.  In fact they (we) encourage pre-op patients to come and get involved with the support group.  To see what it's all about.

I am sorry, I don't have a lot of information on this area, but I used Care Credit when I had Lasix Surgery, they offered no interest for 1 year.  They have a website:  http://www.carecredit.com/ - good luck on your investigation!

So much for empathy, huh?  That's too bad.  Some people just don't "get it" when it comes to what it is like to be obese.

Wishing you well on your surgery, it will not be long!  Welcome to the Utah board as well.  I love hearing from Utahns!

Today i checked in to St Marks for my upcoming WLS, and i was in the nurse's office and the lady helping me was nice and friendly.  Then as we were doing all the questions and such another lady walked in and she said to the lady that was helping me "Looks like the class is out"  she then directed a question to me and it made me shocked....she said

"so did you feel skinny at the meeting"  I said what?

She then said that there is alot of BIG poeple in that meeting, so did it make you feel skinny?

I was shocked, here i am getting a WLS surgery because i am over weight and clearly she thought she was funny....

If my surgery was not scheudled this upcoming week, i would have gone and gotten my money back and asked the office to move my surgery to another hospital....

I am going to call and let the office at St Mark's know about this incident as soon as my surgery is over.,

Does anyone know of any good financing/grants/scholarships or a surgeon that would like to use my surgery as a medical write off?  I desperatly would like and need to have bypass surgery.  BMI 46ish.

You would hope that eventually RMAP will learn and do something about it but I was recently emailed another comment about Carly.  I asked if I could post this but promised I would keep the author's name out of it:

Hi,

So that is funny that I'm reading your post and I had a bad experience with Carly too at RMAP.  She is young, rude and doesn't have any kind of sympathy for FAT people.  They should not have her as a nurse there.  They need people who will be compassionate toward heavy people.  She just is not.  I can't believe they hired her.

Uh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
