Topic: RE: Utahns....Dr. Alldredge??????
Hi, I am a recent post-op of Dr. Alldredge, and I would recommend him to anyone. I researched all listed SLC based Lap-Band Dr.'s and determined that his practice had 1) the most patients (= lowest complications) and 2) the best follow up care (also yields lowest complications). I am only 72 hours out from my banding, but feel wonderful, optimistic, and best of all, I have a local, supportive Dr. with a great staff to go to, just down the street. I don't know why you would consider having your life-line post-op support thousands of miles away, when you can have it right here, and at a reasonable cost. Best of luck to you, and please feel free to keep in touch to follow how my post op experience with Dr. Alldredge goes. -Brad

Topic: RE: HELP! I need to find a dr. in utah for post op fills!?
How ironic! I actually did end up going to Dr Green because youre right hes the ONLY one in Utah doing fills for other surgeons. One complaint though is I had my fill on a Monday and he had said he would adjust it within ONE WEEK if need be for whatever reason whether too constricted or too lose, i contacted his staff exactly one week and was told that i was mistaken they did not tell me that was their policy and that i would have to repay to be seen again - the full $250. im really dissapointed because while i was filled at 3.4cc i dont hardly feel any restriction and its only been 2 weeks time. any suggestions? yeah i know excercise and water - who doesnt know this much, specifically about the band? is that normal for me not to feel restricted? g

Hi, I am new to this board as of today. I got banded last Thursday, May 12th. Sitting around my home recovering has given me an oppty to review the band sites, and hence I found this one. A few weeks ago, I was able to meet with some of the nicest people at the SLC Obesity Help Center for a meeting, then lunch. Since I am banded, and not bypassed, I believe hanging out and talking with similarly situated fellow bandsters may prove to be more productive and enlightening. I checked my calendar for the next three month's get togethers, and find that I am actually out of town each time! Does your group get together at any other time, or on Saturdays, or anything? It would be great to get a sense of how life goes and what to expect now that the food part will undoubtedly change. Thanks, Brad

My friend had lapband surgery in WA state 2 years ago, price $18,000 but the cost has come down to $13000 this year. He also said the cost of RNY would come down in WA next year, maybe because people are going out of state to save $8,000. I would! Airfare is not that much.

I had my Lap Band surgery through South Valley Surgical, and it was performed as out-patient surgery at a surgical center. It was $13,000. If you would like more information, feel free to email me at [email protected] I had my surgery in November of 2003, and am down 80 lbs. Allison

Topic: Is WLS cheaper in different states?
I am finding WLS cost varies considerably from state to state. Was quoted $32,000 for lap RNY in Washington and $25, 000 in Utah. Can anyone in different states share the costs they found in their states? Since we are self pay, the difference is considerable. What about follow up afterwards.

This past month we had a great time getting together at Marie Callendars for dinner. In fact, it was so nice and relaxed, and the food and company so enjoyable, that we decided to make it the standard. At least for the next 3 or 4 months. Then maybe those who have farther to travel (like Brad and Dan) can make arrangements to be in town. So folks, mark your calendars for the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Marie Callendar's in WEST VALLEY 2882 W. 4700 South, West Valley City, UT 84118 801-966-7400 The next couple of month's dates are: May 17th June 21st July 19th Let me know if you are interested, and plan on attending. Looking forward to meeting you! Allison in Layton
