Topic: RE: any WLS seminars in the area?
Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians 268-3800. Some doctors do RNY and some do lap band. I think their seminars are on Tuedays. Call them, they are really helpful.

Hi Linda,
Call South Valley Surgery Associates in Sandy. They are the ones I had my Lap Band surgery with. They do a seminar once or twice a month. The doctors are Darrin Hansen and ? Alldredge. They are located by Alta View Hospital.
Good luck.

I was looking over the site and I noticed the insurance coverage for RNY but has anyone had their lap band covered by insurance here in Utah?
Thanx!

Topic: need a jump start
i am about seven months out i recently have been informed that i have a hernia
but let me go to the beginning of my problem when i was four months out i lost about 30 pounds the next month after that i lost 10 pounds then at my six month check up i lost 0 and this last month around 5
when my doctor found the hernia she said if i was not in too much pain and i could loose all my weight when she did my hernia operation she would give me a tummy tuck yeah
well at this speed i am never going to loose all my weight i am eating all my protien i am exercising getting all my fluids and keeping my calories around 1000 to 1200
my question is do i wait for my free tummy tuck or do you think the hernia is causing the problem and i should have it fixed now
help please

Topic: RE: Worries unique to an LDS person
I am in the process of considering the lapband surgery. Last Sunday when I took my grandkids to church I noticed how heavy most of the women were. Just an observation. Also, I have heard that Utah is the Prozac capital of the USA and that doesn't say much for "good" LDS living.
I would think that if obtaining a healthy body by the means of this surgery is right for you then hurray! you will be so much further ahead than all the overweight women out there who if they were truly living the word of wisdom probably wouldn't be overweight. AND that is just an assumption on my part because I don't know anyone that lives it strictly.
All I am saying is do whatever feels right for you. It doesn't matter two hoots what anybody else thinks just you and your loved ones and your heavenly father.
Sincerely,
Linda
Topic: What do you want at OH events?
Hi everyone -
I just was sent a great idea from Red Haired Girl and I had to thank her in front of all of you -
Here is part of the e-mail:
" She moves with the insouciance of someone who has always been 120 pounds, except when she stands up, when she looks a bit as if she's been fired from a slingshot. ("It's like, whoa-I'm used to going for the big lunge.")
This made me wonder if at your OH events do you ever do breakout sessions on movement. Not exercise. But movement. Teaching us how to move gracefully. It is something that many people never even think about. I do not see it discussed on the boards. With all of the changes ones body goes through after losing hundreds of pounds one probably does not have to stand up or sit down, walk or even gesture in the same manner as one did when heavy. One would probably be physically a little bit better abled to do it with more grace. If one knew how. Just a thought.
Red Haired
I thought that was a perfect class topic.
So here I am thinking - I am sure all of you have wonderful ideas out there - I would love to hear them - So I am asking the question -
What do YOU want to see at the ObesityHelp events?
We are looking at many things and would like your opinions to count in, as we are going to make these events bigger and better and what our members want to see, hear and do.
So the floor is open and I am listening...
This is your time to let us know - what you would like....
Thanks for taking the time to help us all grow stronger and better.
We are a family here and I need my brothers and sisters to help me with some fresh ideas.
