Hello Kimberly, I would encourage you to look at both the Hospital and Surgeon Directories within the geography that you are willing to travel and then begin to read some of the testimonials provided by their patients. It is also a good idea to take the time to visit the office or hospital for your own peace of mind. When you get down to your final two choices, that you meet them face to face before you make a final decision...

I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to reply to my first post about Utah Drs. I have decided to go to Dr. Legrand Belnap in Salt Lake City. Even though he is really busy and a little eccentric, I felt good about him and his passion for the patients. I don't have a date yet, but I hope it will be soon. Thanks again, I'll try to keep everyone updated as we go along. Kimberly

I had Dr Belnap do my bypass on July 23rd 2005. I am now down 115 pounds. Dr Belnap from my research has the reputation of being one of the top Surgeons in the country. I have 3 co-workers that had surgery with Rocky Mountain all with Dr Simper, And they have had great results as well. My decision was made when i was having my consultation appointment and Dr Belnap received a page from Rocky Mountain that they needed his assistance. I was also told by a nurse at St Marks. that she has never seen a Dr Belnap Bypass patient be re-hospitalized following surgery due to complications. Do your homework. Learn about the Gastric bypass as well as other Surgeries. Dr Belnap also does the Duodenal Switch. I wanted the DS but Dr Belnap told me he had reservations about the Duodenal Switch for a Patient less than 500 pounds. He told me it was the best Surgery for pure weight loss but he had concerns about long term malnutrition. I ended up having a Distal Gastric Bypass, And i can't thank Dr Belnap enough.
