I'm SO not good at waiting

I dropped my papers off at Rocky Mtn Assoc. Monday. I called today to see if they sent them to Cigna yet. They then told me it takes them 3-4 weeks to review the paperwork and send them off. I was aggrevated and explained I was trying to get this surgery and be recovered by the time the U of U semester starts in Aug. I didn't want to miss a semester. She said that Dr. Smith was way booked up and that's who I wanted. But I told her I wanted open not lap so she suggested I take Halverson who does only open. He's not as booked and I could get in to see him quicker. I guess lap is more popular these days. So I changed. I know somebody said she got denied because he put the wrong code on her paperwork. And another person said he didn't have good bedside manner, and another said he didn't give a whole lot of info during the consult. But I have heard more positive things about him than negative so I guess he'll do. I just really hate all this waiting. It takes several weeks for each process. Getting your docs from your primary, giving them to surgeon's office to review and send off, waiting for Cigna to approve, waiting to get a consult appt. then waiting to schedule a date. Boy, I've never been good with waiting but with all this practice, I must be getting better with it.

Hi Roxanne. Doctor Halversen is supposed to be the best bedside manner doctor with RMAP. My mom had him and he was so sweet and nice to her. I didn't know that Halversen didn't do lap. That's the one I am looking to have. I was going to go with Halversen. I guess not now. I am still waiting to take the ss class so I can get my paperwork. I've been waiting since the beginning of May. I hate waiting.

Hi Roxanne, Don't get too discouraged... I dropped off my papers on May 22nd, and was told the same thing as you, that it would be at least four weeks in their office before they even submitted to insurance. I'm not going to promise yours will come back as quickly, BUT..... I received my insurance approval this past Monday, the 9th of June! And I've heard from several people who had him do their work, that Dr. Halversen has the best bedside manner. Hang in there, and email me if you would like! Donna

Roxanne, One bit of advice is keep calling. Ask lots of questions. You can usually get into St. Marks easier than Cottonwood because they are more expensive. Sit on the insurance company and the Dr. Office. Go in person if you can to talk to the scheduling person at Rock Mtn. She will help you try to get an schedule that works for you. I had Simper and went to Cottonwood but I had to pay for it myself so I got in sooner. Don't give up. Best Wishes, Rita Merlo

Roxanne, Any news yet? Have they sent your paperwork into cigna? This is my first post and you seem to be feeling the same way I do. I turned in my paper work July16, 2003. I'm not good at waiting so I'm hoping you will get yours approved. I can then gage about how long mine will be. Good Luck!
