Utahn Introductions
If this posts twice, I am sorry.
My name is Becky. I am in St. George and trying to have a RNY with Dr. Cottam in SLC. I have Select Care insurance (IHC). They are finally offering some kind of coverage. It is 50% up to $10,000 life time max. Not great coverage, but better than nothing.
I have been overweight all my life and now I am huge. I am 43 and I've got to get this weight off. It is so uncomfortable. I have severe sleep apnea and my insulin levels are high. I also have back pain and low energy.
My paperwork is being submitted tomorrow and I hope I get approved. Please pray for me. I really need this. My husband's health isn't good and I have 3 little kids, one of whom is disabled.
I am an RN and owrk for Intermountain Healthcare. I'm gald to see there are other Utahn's out there!
I am looking into the Duodenal Switch, I had never heard of it before joining OH here, but now look forward to giving it a whirl.
See you around the boards!
Loving my DS!!
I did go to Amsterdam-a cool little city! I do have have to admit-I like Dublin better!
And as for Dr. Simper-I was very satisfied with him! I have referred a couple of my friends to him who are equally satisfied. He is a realistic guy and he won't b.s. you. Which is a totally good thing!
And thanks for the good wishes on my last 40 pounds. They are a struggle!
I'm a southern'er (Cedar City) and had my RNY on 7/13/06 in St. George. All my gory details and surgeon review are on my profile.
In nutshell: I started at 384, got to 240'ish, in a year got to up to 297 and am now 288 (got back on the straight and narrow this past Monday - ya think I was bloated? lol)
I run a support group here in Cedar City and refuse to give up. As I gained it got increasingly harder to run that meeting every month, but I kept going, no matter what. (Yes, I am also a cousin once removed from Bill W. - in case that "no matter what" sounded familar)
Glad to see some activity around this board :)
Have a great weekend!
I love your attitude, never give up. Good for you. I admire you for hanging in there despite some of your weight regain. Congrats on those 9 new pounds gone though. You can do this!
Loving my DS!!
on 5/4/09 6:31 am - North Ogden, UT
I am 43 (on Thursday) down 28 pounds and 4 months post-op. Married, 5 children, four grandchildren, non-LDS, work full-time for North Ogden City and enjoy riding motorcycles and camping.
Nice to meet you all.
I did notice that the Utah site is kind of sparce, hopefully it will begin to grow and fullfill our need for information and support.
Hi everyone :)
I live in Roy Utah, am 45, married to a wonderful man and I am hoping to have Lap GB soon. I am waiting to hear back from my insurance Co (Altius) as we speak. Cross your fingers and hope for the best!~
I have been on diets since I was 9 years old. I have dieted my way up to 260. On my 5'2" frame I look like a apple with legs. LOL Actually I have lost down to 229. My God it was haaaaaaard! I think that is the most rediculous requirement. I mean, if I could lose the weight by myself, don't you think I would have done it already?!
I suffer from psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondilitis, NASH and Type II diabetes. TaDa! And for my next trick, I'll make my Diabetes disappear. LOL
Right now I am looking for a walking partner in Roy. Sometimes I feel kinda weird about walking by myself so I mostly walk at night.
Anyone in my area?
Waves to all
