Able to eat too much right out of surgery?
I am just 1 week out of a laproscopic gastric bypass & I remember my mom and friend having trouble eating more than 2 bites for the longest time. I just ate a full 6 oz yoplait yogart and only stopped because I assumed it was enough. No pain, or feeling of full. Isn't this odd? I dont want to over eat & I am nervous that I did all this for nothing.
There are 2 possibilities. First yougrt is a slider food and it doesn't stay in your pouch so if you ate slowly it probably just went through. Also this early out from surgery you really don't have a sense of being full and you can really cause problems if you eat more than your recommended portion. I was told to not eat more than 2 oz and stop at the first sign that I was satisfied.
Please be careful this early out, follow your Dr instructions about what and how much you should eat.

Personally I had a lot of trouble eating at all after surgery they kept me a few days longer just to get me to eat!!.. but ayway i was told that our stomaches dont have the feeling of being full or hungry yet as some time goes on youll know what they both feel like I could never tell at first either.. but keep doing the 2 oz. deffinatly because only a week out you could do some damage to your pouch since it isnt healed yet.. but just eat what , when and how much your doctor says to eat no matter what feeling you get.. hope that helped good luck and congrats on the new surgery!!
Well I am 4 months post almost five. I am down 100 lbs but I can eat pretty much anything & quite a bit. Not as much as before & my tastes have changed but I think the weight will come back soon if I dont check into a weigh****chers or a program that allows me to relearn how to eat. I feel hungry all day.

If you eat slowly, eat what you're supposed to, and stop when you're supposed to, you'll find that while you might not get that full sensation, your hunger pains will stop and that you're alright at that point.
Keep a conscious eye on how much you eat. What Amy said is true (for the most part). Yogurt is a slider food. It doesn't tend to stay in your very long. However, if you are like me and you love yogurt, don't be afraid to use it from time to time (it's a better snack than a meal). The best yogurt can only be purchased at Smith's. It's called Carb Master. It doesn't have the sugar (only 3 g) in it that all other yogurts (even the light) have, it has less carbs (4 g) and more protein (12 g) than any yogurt I've ever seen. Also because it's not as sweet (other so-called light yogurts are sweetened with sucralose or aspartame which have a tendency to increase your appetite).
Finally, never, ever, ever think that you did this for nothing. Just get in the habit of keeping a food journal, spacing your meals 4-5 hours between, drinking water between each meal (minimum of 64 ounces each day), and focus on eating quality foods using the 70/30 and portion size approach. You might eat slightly more than other people and you might not relate to someone who says they can only eat one bite and then they're full but you're still good.
