So tired of being obese
I have been fighting obesity since I was about 7, and I am tired of it, I really think I would like to try the surgery, as I have tried everything else, as I am sure everyone else here is too. What I worry about is not ever being able to stop the madness, as I am a low income working person, it is true that I now make more than I ever have, driving a truck, but it is still not enough, does anyone have any words of wisdom, or comfort, or even some hope that even I might be able to get this help, of a surgery that is last I heard about ten thousand dollars? :-S
First the ugly monitary reality...my bills came to near 40k.
Do you have insurance? Have you tried looking into financing? Have you made contact with a doctor/surgeon? Those are the things I would try to get in line.
Not sure what you meant by "stopping the madness?" Madness of obesity? I'm right there with you, even post surgery - it's a dialy concern, but I am working on it.
Get your homework going Easier said than done, I know. Once you get going, you never know what will come your way!
I have heard of some success through Medicare/caid. You may want to try the main boards to get more repsonses

Call Dr. Max Cannon at 801-465-1701
I just had my surgery three days ago and have been on a waiting list in Salt Lake for over three years. Salt Lake told me that Medicaid does not cover the surgery and as soon as they got the hospital classified as a "center of excellence" then my medicare would cover it. What a run around. However, just our of a hunch I started calling around and got hold of this Dr.'s wife. She told me that Medicaid covers it and Max takes Medicaid. In fact this doctor has had the surgery himself. He just cares. He will work with you. Good luck and God Bless.
