Heres my experience
Good morning Utahns, I had my rny last monday, Aug 21st, after 5 years of trying for approval with different insurance companies and finally self paying. My surgeon is Dr Smith from RMAP here in Salt Lake. I did the magnesium citrtate sunday night, not as bad as Id been afraid of. I arrived at Cottonwood hospital at 6 AM monday morning, checked in and was prepped. I had an incredible surgical nurse named Cyndi whom I can never thank enough for her compassion and understanding. I chatted a little with the anesthesiologist and with Dr Smith beforehand and then the last thing I remember is being rolled into the OR. I woke up, not as bad as Id been afraid of, they told me to take some deep breaths, then I was in my room. I barely remember the recovery room. I slept off and on then got up to go to the bathroom, not as bad as Id been afraid of (there's a theme here). Took a walk around the floor, was amazed how little pain I had and came home the next afternoon. I filled my pain prescription just in case but havent even needed tylenol since Ive been home. I have a weird sensation when I eat my clear liquid meals, I can feel it trickle into my pouch, not unpleasant at all, just weird. I think its still a little swollen at the opening. Best to all in whatever stage you are in this journey. Annette
Thanks Peggy and Andre, I just cant believe how good I feel! Getting in all the water is a little hard but I did yesterday and am well on my way today. I discovered the best food on earth today for lunch, refried beans and cheese from Taco Bell. I softened it a little with some beef broth and it went down fine. It was great and it felt good to eat real food. I ate less than 2 ounces and felt full but not uncomfortable. Im knocking on every piece of wood I come across that things continue to go so smoothly.
