i am going to a doc 550 miles away for surgery since i have no docs near me approved for new medicare standards, i will travel if necessary, but being so expensive i was wondering if anyone knows about doctors doing "just fills" for patients locally if they had surgery with another surgeon? i see that many have local fills if they go to mexico or somewhere but have never seen anything about a situation like mine. only 8 hours away. can anyone help? i seem to be getting the run around from office staff. if possible, how much out of pocket will that be? probably less than $250 to travel. please help. thanks much

I don't have an answer for you, sorry. But, I would advise you to call as many local surgeons you can until you find one that is willing to do it. I understand that docs can be really picky about doing fills for another surgeon's work. That's why I think you should REALLY make sure that you have someone willing to do it before you get the surgery. It would really be terrible to go through surgery only to find out that you can't get fills. Also, for your own safety, you need someone nearby who can do unfills or take care of complications if necessary.

I think Dr. Green in Payson is the only one in Utah who will do fills on "non-patients".

Summer, check out http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/UtahBandsters, and look back through the archives. This topic is often addressed on that site. I do think that Marianne is correct though, that Dr. Green is the only Utah doctor who will fill "non-patients" and I think that his price just increased. : ( sorry
