Good morning

DH did not get out the hospital yesterday, I ended up staying the night up there.   Come home this morning to work a couple of hours and jump in shower and then head back up there.   He can't go home till he has a BM which they are giving him and doing all kinds of stuff to get it moving.

Sure was a COLD walk to the car this morning.

Have a great day!

Topic: WEDNESDAY GRATEFUL POST

Good Wednesday Everyone,

Hope your having a good week and are excited that today is the middle of the week or hump day.     Today I am so grateful for my morning coffee.     Before my WLS I never drank coffee......WOW was I ever missing out.   LOL   I use to have a Dr. Pepper instead.    LOL   No more soft drinks for me since my WLS.     I am SO grateful  for my WLS and the journey that I have been on with it for the last 8+ yrs.     Grateful for my family, friends, Obesity Help, all the forums and the people on them.    Grateful that the people seeking WLS today have so many choices of different surgeries.    8 short years ago I had  2 choices....lapband or RNY.     WOW how times have changed.    They were just beginning to do the Sleeve then but not covered by insurance or at least mine yet.     Grateful for waking up today and for my life.   PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today.    Have a blessed day.

Hugs and blessings ~~~~ Vivian

Hi Kirsten,

I agree with Saundra.    To me it sounds like your band has slipped.   Your insurance will more and likely cover it since you definately have a complication.   PLEASE don't delay in getting to a surgeon and getting this band removed.   Vomiting constantly is only causing more damage.   Go to the Revision Forum and see if there is anyone there from the Austin area.   Here is a link of bariatric surgeons that OH recommends.  I would call all of them.   I can't see someone charging you $500 to transfer files.   That is CRAZY !!!!   You will be in my prayers and please keep us updated on what you find out.    Good luck.

Would be a great morning to roll over and stay home in bed but alas that option is off the table.

Work and doing a load of laundry when I get home otherwise no clean long johns for me tomorrow.

Stay in if you can!

Hi,

I have never heard of a transfer fee but do know some have program fees but 500 seems a little high.

I had VBG back in 96 and threw up daily and had a revision to RNY and my insurance covered it but I would have qualified cause I was 100 lbs overweight.   My sister revised for lap band to RNY and insurance covered due to the band slipped so it's possible your insurance may cover revision to fix problems with throwing up.

I would keep looking for surgeon that will help you get revision due to complication with lab band.

Good luck on your search and welcome to Texas!

The short version of my story is that I had my lap band surgery done in 2008 in NY.  Now I am living in Austin since August 2013 (and loving every single second of it) but am having alot of trouble with my band.  I get sick at just about every meal, atleast once and most times more.  I'm worried that I'm damaging my esophagus, teeth and all of the other issues that can come along with throwing up so often.  I have an appointment set with a GI to look into reflux issues and I'm waiting for a return call from my insurance company to give me the run down of options I do or don't have with them.  I called one surgeon who informed me he would charge a $500 patient transfer fee and that a removal/revision would not be covered by my insurance and therefore would cost $13000.  Is a patient transfer fee a common thing?  I haven't even seen a bariatric doctor yet and am trying not to think about worst case scenarios yet but I'm so tired of having to excuse myself to the bathroom every day and every meal.

Any thought or advice or experiences to share would be very greatly appreciated!!!

~Kirsten

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

Hope you had a good beginning to your work week yesterday.    I am SO sck of winter although I AM grateful for the 4 seasons which sometimes here in Texas are only 2 ( Hot and Cold ).    It was blistering cold here yesterday and today it's 22*.   Brrr.....much colder than I like.    I am grateful though for the seasons.   Grateful this AM for our heater.    I can't imagine people who are homeless in freezing weather.    Grateful for my WLS that has actually given me a life to live....I was only existing before my surgery.   Grateful for my relationship with God....I can't imagine how my life would be without him.   Grateful for my family, friends, home, my husband's job, my 3 sons, DIL and my precious  granddaughter.     Grateful for all the blessings that happen everyday in my life.    Grateful for peace....it's so wonderful to have peace since last year was very un-peaceful for me.    Grateful for OH and all the amazing people who have been come friends due to OH.   Grateful for all the wonderful people who are on these forums everyday giving helpful advice to others in need and who share their WLS Journeys.    PLEASE share if you will and have a amazing day...bundle up and stay warm today.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
