Hey ahuesatti,
I'm actually from Austin too! Well N Austin (Cedar Park). I had the RNY on 06/28/17 by Dr. Faulkenberry.
But I definitely agree with you.....the struggle with tortillas is real!

I''m in Houston and had a VSG, however I know my surgeon also does a lot of revisions on folks. His name is Matthew St. Laurent. He's awesome.
Hola!
They just don't know!! I've been eating chicken mole enchiladas cuz I'm pre-op... I was THRILLED when the doc and dietitian said than "tortilla" chips are okay if you are not exceeding carbs-- apparently it's just the breads that ball up in the digestive system that we have to watch out for-- like sopapillas! haha
I've tried Beanitos chips, and they're pretty good. I will miss flour tortillas, but can try them eventually, right?
And QUESO- well, I'm just gonna savor the real cheese that I've been denying myself. Queso was for those "being naughty" times, but I looooovee all kinds of cheese. I feel SO relieved that it's actually more okay to eat cheese again (if my body can handle it).
Yay!
I live in Arlington, and work in Irving.

Howdy y'all--
I tried to find locals but didn't see an Austin group. I'm having my surgery (VGS) in February, and would love to talk to other Texas folks. Those other people just don't understand the allure of tortillas that we have to face on a daily basis!

Hey! I know this is an old thread but just in case anyone else wanders here, I'm from San Antonio too! Got sleeved two weeks ago by Dr. Leah Dill part of Texas Baritric Specialists.
Good Evening!! I had my WLS (Roux-en-y) July 2007. I left OH in 2012 because the Texas forum was pretty dead. I just got back on to see if anything had changed. I agree that we need more support for Texas.
Maybe 2017 will be the year.
What type of health insurance did you have? Was it through your employer or an individual an PPO or HMO?
