GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE; COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!! THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

Sarah,
I'm fairly new to this whole WLS thing - had VSG on 4-3-13 - and I was right where you are back in January. This whole Texas group has been nothing but majorly supportive and encouraging. THANKS TEXAS FORUM. YOU ARE LOVED 💙💛💙!!!
I was SO scared and indecisive about which procedure to have, but with help and info from people here, as well as researching WLS types on my own, I decided - three weeks before surgery, that the VSG was what I felt most comfortable with. From the time I made up my mind to have surgery, I've not regretted the decision ONCE. It has been THE best and wisest choice I've made for myself ever!!
I wasn't always overweight, but had gained over double my weight over the last 15-18 years and had become physically and emotionally miserable. You are more than welcome to read my blog. I have it restricted to friends only, because I found some really weirdos when I had it open to the public. My blog gives you more insight into all my limitations before surgery as well as my fears, etc.
i can, in all honesty, tell you that I already, after less than 4 months out, feel SO much better, I can't even tell you!! I'm 53 yrs old - or will be this coming Monday the 29th - and worried that I would not lose weight as easily as many of the younger people. However, I've lost 78 total and over 55 since surgery. I know I've said it before, but I can't say it enough. I FEEL GREAT and AM SO GLAD I HAD WLS.
YOU'LL DO GREAT.......Susie, from Lubbock, TX
SUSIE--there are WEIRDOS on the internet ?!?1?!? Who knew ?!?!?!?
WOW--55 lbs, since surgery, already? Awesomeness-on-a stick (my 6 yr old nephew's new fave saying--it has stuck with me!)..
If I haven't already told you, I am SO happy to see you posting again on the TMB. I missed you when you were gone

We Can Do Hard Things
Gina,
Nice to see your reply to my post and good to see you again, too!! I decided to take an OH break, but am goin got try and post more on here. Between logging all my foods on MFP, FB VSG Groups (2) and my personal FB page, it was difficult for me to even find time. And, like I've said before, OH messaging and posting is more of a hastle than FB. Maybe it's just my iPad, but I have difficulty with the word processing on here, plus, I wish we had a "like" button, plus other features that FB has. Whatever my gripes about OH - YOU TMB GROUP make up for all the inconveniences and have been such an awesome group of people. I appreciate y'all more than you know.
And, YES!!! There are weirdos ALL OVER the Internet, not just on OH 😉
Wishing you a relaxing Thursday evening, a Fantastic Friday and Wonderful Weekend. 💙💛💜

Hello Everyone, I can't thank you enough for the support! I had a consultation yesterday with Dr. David Syn and I'm very happy with the information I received, and I feel really good about Dr.Syn as a surgeon. He feels that the sleeve will be perfect for me and I was reluctant to do anything to the intestines so it works out perfect! I go on the August 15th for the physc evaluation and then on the 16th I have a stomach scope. Then the results go to insurance for final approval. Dr. Syn is hoping I will be scheduled for surgery the middle to end of September. Dr. Syn really took time to put some of my fears to rest. I've never had surgery. He explained that his average patient is 330 lbs, and typically has at least 2 co-morbid diseases. I'm boarder line everything, and currently 260....so my risk factor is lower than the average patient, which all the statistics are based on. This really helped the chicken inside of me! haha He also talked a lot about why the success rate of morbid obese people dieting and exercising is so low. That really helped my husband understand and accept the need for this procedure. Im not looking forward to that liquid diet phase but I'm so excited about what comes later!!!! Sarah
