Medical Update 3
Well, I have been delayed posting anything until the recent blood test results came back. They came back Monday afternoon and only one result was low out of spec. unfortunately it was the one I was hoping wasn't going to be low. I also found the results of the imaging Thursday when I went to see the doctor because I got deathly ill Wednesday night. Late Wednesday night I ended up with a high fever 103.4 F, severe abdominal cramps, tremors, and a lot more that I will not write. Needless to say I more than likely should have gone to the ER but I decided to let my family sleep and tough it out. However, my wife work up at 3:00 AM and called our doctor but the answering service tried contacting the wrong one. However, when my regular doctor office opened up the nurse called telling my wife to bring me in as soon as possible. I saw a substitute doctor because mine was on vacation. The doctor believes the reason for me getting deathly ill was that the barium contrast left system creating a severe dumping syndrome effect. He warned that anytime I am given a large dose of anything I will more than likely suffer the same affects and to be prepared. As for the imaging procedures nothing abnormal was found. As for the low blood sugar he explained that basically because of gastric bypass and all the lifestyle requirements example reduced sugar intake, plus my job schedule contradicts what the normal human body is set up, and the fact I am more physically active is more than likely causing the low blood sugar issues.
Then yesterday afternoon I had a extremely high blood sugar episode 254 which occurred after I ate my afternoon snack. wife called the doctor because at the time I felt sick and went to lay down. It was at that time I checked my blood sugar. The doctor increased my medication and now I am taking to tablets. Plus, now she has me on a regular diabetic blood sugar testing schedule. I go back to the doctor in two weeks for a check up and to see how these changes help. So, I have found the cause of the low blood sugar and know that it is still not totally under control. I have been told to increase my protein and to watch extremely closely carbs intake. I hoping that I can get the blood sugar under control soon and get some what back to normal. I will keep everyone informed as I know more or if anything changes.

I am sure we will eventually get it under control my main concern is keeping it under control as I change my level of activity. Yesterday I decided to start a nutrition log and blood sugar log. This way I can show the doctor I am following her orders plus maybe lead us to other ideas on how to manage my blood sugar better. I believe she thinks I do not eat enough. After just the first day doctor is going to kill me on the nutrition log because calories intake was only 1640. I am suppose to have between 1800-2100 calories per day. Plus protein intake was only 83 grams. Thursday should be a little better as I will be on my shift work schedule routine.
