FINALLY, the decision has been made...
TO DS OR VSG - THAT WAS THE QUESTION??!! I saw Dr. Stewart again today to visit about which WLS was best for me. After several weeks of going back & forth between trying to find which WLS I felt at peace with, I've finally made up my mind. Drum roll please............VSG it is. Dr. Stewart and I talked in length, and he didn't see any reason that the sleeve wouldn't be the best choice for me. So......I'm scheduled for VSG surgery on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Frisco Forrest Park Medical Center @ 7:00 a.m. And I am EXCITED!! On a personal note, today was my Dad's 72nd birthday and my oldest granddaughter, Alivia, turned 3 years old. Watch for her Bday pictures to be posted. We're having her Bday party tomorrow, Saturday from noon-2pm and then 3 hours later, my husband and I will be flying to Dallas for our youngest granddaughter, Scarlett's, Baby Dedication on Sunday. Sounds like Saturday, March 23rd is going to be ONE BUSY DAY. My husband will fly back to Lubbock on Monday, while I will be staying with my youngest daughter, her husband, my almost 3 year-old grandson, Grayson, and his two month old baby sister, Scarlett, through next Wednesday. I wanted to get another short stay in with them to help my daughter out with the two little ones before I have surgery and can't help for awhile. I've got a BUSY next five days. but that's good because it should keep me from getting too nervous. I get home on Wednesday, the 27th. Will be home Wednesday through Sunday, and then my Mom and I will be driving to Frisco on Monday the 1st and spending the night in a hotel that is just about five minutes from the hospital. Tuesday, April 2nd @ 8 a.m. is pre-op seminar @ Dr. Stewart's office & then off to the hospital @ 1:30 to finalize admissions. I'm hoping to add a visit with two of my OH Dallas based friends, Vivian and Brenda, to that same day. Of course, last but not least, is the THE BIG DAY - Wednesday April 3. This day, April 3rd, is going to be the beginning of a whole new and improved adventure for me. I can't believe this s about to happen!!! WooHoo!!! Can you tell that I'm a tad bit excited??? I am thankful for God's guidance and peace regarding my WLS. I know He has been with me each step of the way. Love and hugs to each of you that have shared your personal experiences, advice and support. I can't even begin to tell you how much it has helped and how much it has meant to me. As always, I would appreciate your continued prayers for a safe and successful WLS. Y'all are the best. Susie

SUSIE-I'm glad I didn't answer you on the MB...it feel way more personal here (FYI.."protocal" is to put X-post in your title when you post a duplicate something on more than one board so we will know to look for it somewhere else, also--like here!)
You sound like you are totally at peace with your decision, and I could not be happier for you. Dr. Stewart has a VERY solid medical reputation, and, IMHO, you are in very good hands, and it will be worth every mile you have to travel to be under his care.
How wonderful that you will have so much family time, but please DO remember you WILL need a little time to rest up some, and get ready for your wild ride!! Do as I SAY, not as I DID..lol..my sons were 12 and 10, when I had my WLS..and I probably went to 20 little league games that last week..dug out duty at 340 lbs..the whole shabang..sleep? huh?
I am soooooooo excited for you !!!!! Have you and Vivian decided when/where you are meeting? Daytime or night? I work days, but would love a change to hug your neck while you are in the DFW area..
Again..so glad you are at peace and your plans are in place. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the babies!

We Can Do Hard Things
Gina,
Thanks for the info and well wishes. As for meeting the day before surgery with Vivian and Brenda, I am not sure even IF that is going to take place. I'm going to leave it to y'all to make those specific plans. If you'll just get in touch with Vivian, that would sure help me out. It will be one less thing for me to have to plan or do before surgery. I'd love to meet you too and I'll ALWAYS take another hug :)
On indicating a duplicate post like I did here, DS, VSG and Main forum - did you just say put an "X" in the subject line?? I'm a bit slow on the uptake :)
Again, thanks and hope to get to meet you, too.

So glad you are at peace with your decision. I love that we all can do our research and choose what is best for us.
I wish you well in your healing. Do not try to do too much too soon. I hope you have a support group you can go to in your area. I found talking to people in-real-life extremely helpful to me in the beginning.

Thanks, Laura. And definitely glad we have more than just one choice of WLS, now. I will take your advice about not doin too much too soon. That's the reason I came down again before my surgery. I wanted to be sure and help my daughter out with the Gbabies BEFORE I have surgery because I know I'll be limited for sometime afterwards. I am part of a Lubbock DS group. I would think that I should be able to stay connected with them even though I'm having a VSG. I hope so anyway. Again, thanks for the reply to my post.
Blessings.....Susie

Horray !!! So glad your at peace with your decision Susie. I haven't heard anything from Brenda yet. But if she can't come meet you I still can. Will you be on a liquid diet prior to your VSG? Most surgeon's put you on a 2 week liquid diet but not all. We can just meet somewhere for tea or whatever and not eat. Gina knows my number and can contact me and come meet you if it works out. She's a very precious lady. I am SO thrilled for you Susie and I know that everything is going to be great with your surgery and results. Can't wait to meet you in person.

Vivian ~ "No" to liquid diet. And....I am SO excited that you can meet me that Tuesday, April 2nd afternoon. I sure hope Brenda and Gina can join us. Thanks for taking care of the planning part of this meeting. I'll message you my hotel information so that we can maybe meet close to there? It would help me out since my mom is coming with me. Next time - after surgery - I will drive "your" direction. Again, thanks for all the wonderful support. Vivian, you are a jewel.

Susie....not sure how great I will be at planning it. I do NOT know that area at all. I pretty much stay in my comfort zone as far as what part of town I go to but I do have a GPS that I have ALL the faith in the world will get me anywhere I need to go at anytime. LOL Thank GOD for those miracle inventions. LOL What did we EVER do before computers and GPS. LOL We can pretty much do whatever you want and your Mom is more than welcome to join us. I am just SO EXCITED for you. Hopefully I will hear from Brenda soon.
