Just checking in

Haven't posted recently. Just checking in. Had blood work done yesterday for Dr. Stewart's vitamin levels, etc., in prep for my DS surgery - April 3rd. Had "the talk" with hubby this past weekend regarding needing/wanting his support for surgery and letting him know I'm going ahead with surgery at the first of April. He's still not a fan of me having the surgery, but is at least NOT being a total jerk like he was in January. Hoping he gets on board, but realizing this is something I have to do for myself whether he understands or not.

PS - Hubby is NOT a jerk. Actually, he is a pretty great guy. He has just "acted like a jerk" regarding WLS...but...he's coming around.  Asking for continued prayers for him - for me and rest of my family - as I approach surgery date.

Thanks for your prayers & Wishing each of you a beautiful & Blessed week.

Susie....I went through the SAME THING with my hubby and all 3 of my sons.    What the thing is...( I'm sure you've figured this out already ) is they are worried that something will happen to you.    I know that was the case with my family.   Once the surgery is done they will be apprehensive for a while till they see that everything is OK with you and when they start seeing the weight come off and how happy you are then and probably only then will they accept the surgery.    Or at least that's how it was in my case.   My oldest son's ex wife was going through medical school to become a doctor and she told me I was making a HUGE mistake.   People are scared of the unknown.     I know my family still says they don't know what they would do without me.    I do everything for everyone it seems....but I love it and I'm not complaining at all.     Just hang in there.....I wish I could say this will be the "only" issue that will come up with your husband as a result from your WLS but I'm sure other things will come up too.   Just hang in there and don't let anyone change your mind.   Your doing this for YOU and your future with your family.   We will ALL be here to support and encourage you on this journey.    Have a blessed day !!!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Hi Susie,  Glad you are checking in, letting us know that everything is rolling right along.  April 3 will be here before you know it.  Vivian is right, your family (husband) is just scared & worried, which only shows their Love for you.  But you will be OK... Once you have the surgery and recovering.. they'll start to see the changes,  your family will be happy for you.  I think everyone on this board will agree that WLS has been the best thing we ever did for OURSELVES.

Vivian and Brenda,  I sure do appreciate you two. Thanks for the reassurance and support. I know it will just take time for my family to accept and support my decision, but I feel completely at peace that this is THE RIGHT CHOICE for me.

Lots of Love & Hugs to Y'all. I'll be in Frisco/Plano area this upcoming week arriving Monday, Feb 25th and flying back home on Friday, March 1st. I've got both of y'all's phone numbers. I'll check out my daughter's plans for me when I get there and then see if we could possibly meet at least for an hour or two. I would love to meet both of you in person.

Blessings laugh

Good for you, Susie!! Is your husband overweight? Is he worried about his lifestyle changing?

Thanks, Laura. No. My husband is not overweight and has no clue how it feels to be MO. He is reluctant to talk about it. Hoping he will come around.
