Considering delaying WLS
Brief intro: I'm 52 yrs old. Live in Lubbock TX. Was planning on DS WLS with Dr. Daryl Stewart on Feb 13th. Had to cancel. See reason on my blog if interested. (Nonny60 Blog). Got home January 31st from helping my youngest daughter after the birth of her second child, Scarlett, who was born January 14th. She lives in Plano and I live 6-7 hours away in Lubbock. She also has a 34 month old son, Grayson. My daughter (28 yrs old) wants me to come back to help her 4-5 more days in Feb and another 4-5 days again in March. They also have a baby dedication service scheduled for Scarlett on Sunday, March 24th - also in Dallas. Because she wants my help and because i want to be sure and be at the dedication service in Dallas area, I'm going to cancel (or at least postpone) having surgery in Feb or March and schedule it for the first part of April. I think that will make me feel better and not worry about being there for my daughter.
Am I crazy for delaying? I really want your input.
Thanks Bunches......Susie

Susie.....I'm a pretty honest person and YOU are the only one who matters on the thoughts about you postponing your WLS. It sounds like to me your daughter needs help too with baby's pretty close together. We ALL sacrifice so much for our children and grandchildren. Just make sure you don't put your surgery off forever. YOU are VERY IMPORTANT too and you want to be around to see those precious grandbabies grow up. Remember YOU are important too.

Vivian, SO TRUE - to sacrificing for our kids & Grandkids. I am NOT going to cancel or put this off forever, just about 6-8 weeks. I think I will rest better and feel much better, in the long run, for putting this off for a few weeks so I can help Shelby with the babies. I appreciate your support, input, and expertise. You are such a gift to me...already...and the journey has JUST BEGUN. Thanks again.

Susie.....I will ALWAYS be here for anyone who needs support and encouragement. What us grandparents ( my granddaughter is just 6 months old) will do anything for our kids and our grandchildren. You do what is best for you and your family right now and don't worry about what others think. I would call though and get your surgery re-scheduled. Dr. Stewart is a very busy doctor in our area. If your ever in the Fort Worth area let me know. I'd love to meet you face to face. I don't do the Dallas area real well or I'd cone that direction to meet you. You have a great time and love those precious babies and your daughter.

Thanks, Vivian. Will do. Great idea about going ahead and scheduling PLUS it will make me KEEP to my commitment to WLS. After putting it all down on my post, thinking about it, and looking at the calendar, I think it will be best to wait until after my March 24-29 stay with Shelby. I will be in the DFW area February 17-21 and March 24-28 - fairly certain about these dates. I would love to meet you as we'll. that would give me a good excuse for a break from being Nonny, maid & live-in nanny. I will need it FOR SURE. Message me your phone info and I'll plug it into my phone. There is another lady, Brenda, from Lewisville that I'm going to plan on meeting while in DFW, too. Maybe we could all three meet together.
wishing you a great week

SUSIE...you said you REALLY wanted our input..be afraid of what you ask for..lol...no rainbows and fairy farts in THESE fingers..
In all honesty, it sounds to be like YOU have already made your decsion, and are perhaps looking for some validation that your decision is "okay"...Is YOUR decision what MY decision would be? Probably not..I love my sons with all my heart, but, if they unless they were truly in crisis, my surgery would come first..It may be different if they were girls (I have no way of knowing)...
If you have surgery..say early March, there shouldn't be any reason you could not enjoy Scarlett's baby dedication service...What IS it you REALLY have to come for? Clean the whole house? Throw a party? Give your daughter a TOTAL break?
I guess I say all this to say..IMHO..and cuz you ASKED...I look at this opportunity for your new LIFE..and improved HEALTH, as YOUR TIME..and hate to see you lose out on even a day of it..How do you know the opportunity will even be there, for sure, when you finally ARE ready?
It goes without saying..but..since I'm on a roll this morning, I'll say it anyway:
We're with you, whatever you decide..and I IMPLORE YOU--should you decide to wait--continue to come here NOW, and continue to research/etc/etc...this is a lifetime journey..not a 50 yard dash..regardless of what/or even no surgical procedure utilized to help with the weight loss
Godspeed, my new friend

Gina,
Thanks SO MUCH for your input. And NEVER worry about being upfront with me. That's the way I like people to be - Up Front and Honest. Wouldn't want you to be any other way. I emailed Dr. Stewart's office manager and told them to schedule me either the very first of March or the very first of April - whichever works best for them. That way, I'll go with whichever...what will be will be :). I'm SO PSYCHED and ready. I don't want to wait one more day than I have to.
Looking forward to having more info soon. God's Blessings, my new friend. Have a GREAT Monday!!!
