Return and bringing a problem
Hello Again,
I apologize for the long absent but in early June I was transferred back to the Dallas area by my company. My work has kept me busy with various changes in positions and task ever since then and another position change is on the horizon. Journey wise I am still doing pretty good and maintaining my weight approximately where I want it at. Since being back in the Dallas area I have had some minor issues occur that warranted speaking to a doctor about and I had been putting them off until recently. I located a new primary care doctor who ran my annual blood work. The results were mixed results while vitamin levels were perfect blood sugar level was dangerously low. I am curious that all of sudden within the last few months that my blood sugar levels would all of sudden drop off. Currently the doctor wants me to increase my protein intake to try to raise my blood sugar level. Basically for me that means every meal, snack, and dessert has protein in it absolutely while before the doctor's order I was already eating a good healthy amount of protein based on my dietary setup. I am suppose to have blood work drawn again the end of this month which will determine the next course of action.
I was wondering has anybody else that is a few years post surgery run into this issue. Like I said I find it weird that it would just now start to manifest. Before weight loss surgery my blood sugar was fine.
I now I have said this before but I will continue to try to maintain a presence on forum more often then I have in the past.

The funny thing is I take in roughly 120 grams of protein a day and been on a low carb diet since surgery, which why I find it interesting this problem has manifest now. There are other possible causes but because blood sugar was the only abnormal result I would have to believe it is a result of my weight loss surgery but as I said it has been almost 4 years since my Gastric Bypass surgery that is why I find it strange. The only thing that has changed since I first notice issues is I am even more active than before. I plan to discuss this issue more with my doctor when we re-run the blood test at the end of this month.
Welcome back !!! SO glad that your back on the message board here but I am sorry that your having blood sugar issues. Sorry I have no advice to give you to help with your issues. I would just do what your doctor tells and I will pray that it will work for you. Glad your back in the area. I know you miss Nina and Jennifer though.

Glad to be back , I should have made my presence sooner. I figured with the blood sugar issue now was the perfect time to re-emerge. Personally, I find the blood sugar issue a annoyance but know all to well it is a serious issue. The problem has my wife even more worried especially when I had one episode back in July where I passed out at a restaurant. She wanted me to go to the hospital but told her I was fine and we did not go. Doctor got mad at me when I told her about it last week and so I got a lecture on that issue, and drinking plenty of fluids. Overall, I am in good health with the exception of the blood sugar issue hopefully the increase in protein will fix the blood sugar issue; however it is going to take time. Yes, I do miss everyone from the Austin/Round Rock area.
This isn't uncommon amongst the RNY community. What type of symptoms are you having? How often are you eating? And lastly are you checking your blood sugar levels before a meal/snack and 1-2 hours after?

My eating schedule varies due to my changing work schedule. Generally, I eat breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner while trying to keep calorie intake between 1800 and 2100. Currently, I do not test at all. My doctor right now only has me eating more protein and want to retest blood sugar at the end of the month. I am expecting she is going to have me start testing if the blood test results still show blood sugar is low. I have a majority of the low blood sugar symptoms and few months back I even passed out which we initially thought might have been dehydration but now leaning towards I might have low blood sugar back then.
