Thanks, Karla. I am really looking forward to it but I am apprehensive...but it's major surgery, who wouldn't be? I'm more afraid of what will happen if I don't do it.
Hi, I'm new on this board too. I had RNY on Dec. 31, so I'm about a month post-op. I'm also a teacher, so I understand your wanting to do the surgery in the summer. I'm not in the classroom anymore and I have the world's best principal so I was able to take off the time I needed. Good luck with your sleep study. Try not to worry about it too much.
Blessings,
Stephanie
Thanks Stephanie. If I were not the only teacher who teaches the subjects I teach at my school, I'd do this during the school year. But with all the crazy testing we've got this spring (TAKS, STAAR, AP, etc), I can't afford to miss days!
WELCOME to our TMB family ! What's your first name?
I'm Gina..the old chick around here..almost 11 yrs post RNY..30+ yrs nurse..23+ yrs mama..55 yr old Type A redhead (I have handpicked Bette Midler to play me in the movie of my life) so, when I come off with "un-asked for advice"..just take it in stride..as my tee shirt says "I'm the Crazy Aunt They Warned You About"...
Dr Nick was not my surgeon, but I know several of his very successful/satisfied customers, and have met him/heard him speak of a very times..and WHAT a cutie...SO important in a surgeon !!!!!
We are hoping you will post often..let us get to know you..and get to know US!

We Can Do Hard Things
Hi Gina,
I'm Lee. Nice to "meet" you!
Everyone has a crazy aunt...I should know, I have a ton of them! :) But I love every single one.
So far I have been really impressed with Dr. Nick and I'm looking forward to talking with him again at my consult next month. He made a very good first impression on me at the seminar of his I attended! And you're right, he is a cutie!
I hope to post here a lot...school takes up a big chunk of my time but I will be as active here as I can be.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to getting to know more of you all here!
Glad you found the board! Welcome!
I compare WLS to having your first baby.... you know it's going to change your life- most everything in a good way. You deal with the negative "stuff" because its Oh SO Worth it!. You don't really really know what to expect but you have a good idea. And in the end you look back and think- wow! I'm glad it's a part of my life!
I'm a speech language pathologist in a school district. I had my band placed during the summer (June actually) so that I'd have plenty of time to heal and get a hold on the new eating. While it made it easier, I think that had I done it during the calendar months of working that I would have been ok too.
Good luck and ask away! There's always someone here that's "been there, done that!"
Also, we have infrequent get togethers in the metroplex so the next time we have one you need to come!
