I posted here a few weeks ago when I was pre op. Well, now I am post op! I had my RNY January 24th at Methodist hospital in Houston. The surgery took 8 hours due to a small hernia, lap band and scar tissue removal. Yikes! Then I had an allergic reaction to the morphine. After the little night nurse figured that out and switched meds things began to look up. I came home 3 days later moving really slowly. But now I feel much better. I had my one week follow up yesterday and he took the drain out and put me on puréed foods moving up to soft foods this weekend so life goes on. Just had my first ENS Celebrate protein, vitamin and mineral shake with a frozen banana and it was really good. Expensive but good

Anyway I will be lurking here now and then. Trying to figure out a daily schedule to get it all in. Dr. wants me to eat 800 to 900 calories per day and it seems just impossible. 3 oz yogurt fills me up right now. I am trying to make a chart and figure out how to do this. I need to get up early and stay up late and eat and drink all the time it seems.

I don't think I will ever eat creamed soup again!

SHARON--congrats on taking charge of the rest of your "way to be healthy" life !!!!

Your MAIN job right now is to rest rest rest and sip sip sip those fluids and then walk walk walk, when you aren't rest rest resting..lol..The rest will figure itself out, in time. Don't drive yourself crazy with calories, etc..and don't try to "move forward" with your diet too quickly (but following YOUR doc's orders, of course)...Many peeps find they must step back an item or two, then try again a day or so later...and that's OKAY..this is a lifetime marathon-not a 50 yard dash...

We are here for you and will GLADLY answer any questions/concerns you may have. Normally I am not on OH during the day-still can't master it on my phone-I just happened to shoot home to grab some stuff today. Do you Facebook? I pretty much keep it up on my phone all the time, and it "beeps" at me, so I'd know if you were sending a question/message. Look me up--Gina Derr Robinson Morales..

Thanks so much for posting today, and letting us know how you are doing !!!!

Gina:

Well I can't stop napping. Just pooped I guess. I am not hungry at all. Odd thing though I get a little nagging headache over the left eye and that seems to signal me to drink. I doubt I will have to worry about dehydration. As soon as I get about 8 Oz down the headache goes away. Isn't the body weirdly wonderful. I seriously doubt I will starve .

I am not on Facebook myself but snoop on it lots. I will look you up - between naps that is.

I am SOOOOOO pleased to see you are listening to your body's signals. As you probably know, thirst and headaches are the first 2 signs of even the very mildest dehydration...and you do NOT want to go there--esp this early out..

Sounds to be like you are doing everything PERFECTLY !!!!!

Sharon,

Hi and congrats on your recent surgery!! I'm really excited for you. I'm hoping, but mainly praying that I will be following you shortly. I'm pushing for surgery in the next three weeks. Don't have a surgery date yet. Had to cancel my first surgery date due to problems with my husband & money situation. I'm going to have the DS procedure done by Dr. Daryl Stewart from Denton/Dallas area as it stands right now. I met him in Frisco for the first time on January 17th while I was at my youngest daughter's house helping her with her precious newborn daughter, Scarlett. And, I might add: Scarlett Isabel Jones (my third Grandbaby) is precious and perfect like her older brother, Grayson and her cousin Alivia Beckett Havens.

Thinking about you. Praying for you. And cheering you on.

Congrats Susie on your decision to have WLS.   If your having DS Dr. Stewart is the most experienced one in the area.   He's done them for years and years.    I personally do not know him but I hear he's a good surgeon and has good results with his DS.   There isn't alot of surgeon's in our area that has done the DS for a long period of time and there is ONE in particular that I would tell you  NOT to use.    PERIOD !!!  He is not that one though.   LOL    Good luck on your journey.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Thanks, Vivian.  Interested in the one NOT to use. If you feel comfortable, private message me. Again, thanks. Have a great Thursday.
