Amerigroup Medicaid /Dallas Area/ NO Doctors /HELP PLEASE

I was so relieved to find out last week that my medicaid would cover some type of weight loss surgery. I have become so ill and overweight since my last child 4 years ago and I am 45 and losing it seems impossible. I am getting more and more weight related medical problems all the time.

I can't find a doctor in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that takes Amerigroup medicaid. Does anyone know of a doctor that will?

I have a niece who has Amerigroup Medicaid who was using a doctor in Tyler and  he dropped coverage as of this year.   The closest bariatric surgeon to the DFW area is in San Antonio.    My niece had already gone through lots with the other surgeon but she is now changing doctors.    She is going on Feb. 4th to see the doctor in San Antonio.    If you want that doctor's information let me know.   I live in Fort Worth and it is about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive.    My middle son was in Teen Challenge in San Antonio and it would take me 5 hours depending on the Austin traffic.    It could take you less time.   But please get back to me if I can help you out.   Also my niece called almost ever surgeon on the Amerigroup.

I actually live 30 minutes north of San Antonio in the hill country, but I have been up here working for the past year since there is not any work down there. Do they take Amerigroup at the one in San Antonio? If so, I would love to have the information. I could stay at our house down there for the surgery and consults.

The doctors name is  Dr. Keith Wright .    His address is 414 Navarro St. Suite 810 San. Antonio.   His phone number is 210-220-1726.    I just got off the phone with my niece.   She said to tell you that he is the ONLY one that she found that takes Amerigroup.   She's so excited about finding him.   She was so upset when the doctor in Tyler wasn't taking Medicaid any more.    I'm glad I saw your post and could share this information with you.    Good luck to you.

I will keep you in my prayers that this will work out for you.   I KNOW it will because it is working for my niece.   Her appointment with the surgeon is on Feb. 4.     They actually had a opening for tomorrow when she called last week but she wasn't able to do that appointment.    Please keep me posted on what happens.   I'm excited that I knew that information and could actually help someone out with it.     Good luck.

Yes I certainly can.  My niece had the sleeve with Dr. Wright the end of July and I believe she's lost about 85- 90 l bs.    She's been doing very well.    It was definately worth the 5 hour drive each way to San Antonio from Fort Worth.
