I'm on the road to getting everything in progress for a revision from a damaged lapband to a sleeve. The new surgeon (will NOT go with the lap band surgeon..long story and a lot of the reason I have the damage ) has been very nice..took a lot of time with me and did the scope that found the damage.

His name is Dr. Frenzel he has offices in Dallas and Arlimgton,  I'm totally scared the sleeve will be a rehash of the problems I had with the band.

Any advice that you can give me on my doctor and having the revision would help a LOT. Also questions on weight loss compared between band and sleeve from those that have gone through this.

thank you so much

Hello and welcome to the TMB.   I personally do NOT know anything about your surgeon other than I have seen his TV commercials.    As far as weight loss comparing the band from the sleeve.   Usually Sleeve patients loose weight about like Gastric Bypass patients ( RNY ).   With the lap band it normally takes about 3 yrs or longer to loose all your weight.    I know many many people who have had revisions from the band to the sleeve and been extremely successful.   Good luck to you and your journey.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

WELCOME to our TMB family! Sorry I wasn't here to greet you yesterday..What is your first name? I kinda hate to refer to you as "house"..lol..

I'm Gina..10+yr post RNY..but like to TRY to stay educated on different surgery "types"..though OF COURSE we only REALLY know the types we live with every day..and..EACH of our experiences are as individual as WE are..

But..that being said..we also all "band together"..no pun intended...and support each other...no matter what...

Do have specific questions? We will help you find the answers?

Have you met with Dr F or his staff yet? *****ferred you there?

Where do you live? We are all over the place and have been known to spring up for a SBX "meeting" at a moment's notice...Internet can be a lifesaver, but there is nothing like face-to-face conversation (yea, I AM old-how did you guess???)..

My BFF has had a band for many years, lost tons of weight, had a baby, had some "band work" done..back to losing now..She would love to meet you, and help you thru this transition, also (I know I can speak FOR her..lol)...

REALLY looking forward to getting to know you!!!

Hi and welcome. I'm a sleever. I haven't had a revision but what we see in our support groups is that folks that revise lose just fine - albeit a little slower than a "virgin sleeve". I think you'll do fine. Obviously, I love my VSG and continue to lose, even 18 months out. I started very heavy though :)
