Support group in San Antonio
Gee....can't believe no one on here is helping you. I went to the groups above and there are LOTS in Austin but I do know that is hours away from San Antonio. San Antonio has only 1 OH Support group listed. Here is the link to it. Good luck to you. Wish some of the people in San Antonio would start a support group. I know that there are LOTS of requests from time to time there. Hope this helps you out. Good luck !!!

Thank you so much for responding Vivian. I had found that one and joined the group tonight after reading your response but it seems like it's a dead group. I've been looking for a while for one down here prior to the move but it's not looking promising. I'm not a very good public speaker but I do tend to be very vocal in my support of wls so maybe I could try my hand at it if I can't find one soon. I'm going to try and call a few local wls dr's offices and see if they know of one on Monday.
Thank you again.

Sara.....I will be honest with you. If you don't find one.....WHY don't you contact Obesity Help and create a support group. Trust me....I am a leader and it really isn't a very difficult thing to do. I am NOT a nurse or anything medical but a WLS patient who is a homemaker and cares about the success of others on this WL journey. You might want to consider it. If you are thinking about doing this....let me know and I will get some information to you about starting a OH Support Group. Good luck to you.

Vivian if I can't I most definitely will look into starting one for the area. Once I get settled into the area I should have all the time needed to do so since I'm now technically a homemaker instead of working outside the house. I'll definitely be getting back in touch with you to see what all it entails. Thank you again so much!

Welcome to SA. :) I have lived here for 6 1/2 years myself.
The group that I had my surgery done with have a monthly support group. It is usually the first Monday of the month (I think). I have not gone myself, but one of these times I will make it. It doesn't look like they have anything listed on the calendar right now but eventually they'll put it up there.

Thank you for the welcome :-). I've never been to a support group meeting either but I'm thinking with all the temptation around here that I might need it lol. I looked at the website that you posted. Do you know if they allow the public or just the people from that had the surgery with them? Thank you for responding and for posting the link :)

Oh and do you have any wls friendly places that you recommend?
You're welcome. :) I do know that they encourage bringing family and friends, so I don't see why they would mind having someone new to the area. I have not been anywhere that I would particularly recommend for a WLS patient, however I keep things simple. If there isn't a low-calorie option on the menu I will just order a plain grilled chicken breast (or steak, etc). Fruit and non-starchy veggies in place of any high-calorie sides. If there's a need for fast food and I don't have a protein bar with me I will usually go to Chick Fil A and get some grilled chicken nuggets - or just order a chicken breast from McDonald's, they usually charge $1.50ish.

I try to keep it pretty simple as well and tend to go for the same types of food when I'm eating out. But I had no idea Chick Fil A had grilled chicken nuggets!!! I'm excited to hear about that. I try and not go the fast food route as well but if I have to I usually end up getting a childs burger and just eating the meat. I do try to do chicken but at most places it's to dry for me to handle but I'm going to have to try chick fil a's. Thank you again about your Dr's office support group I'll have to check it out and see if they would mind I go to them. I'll try and do that this coming week and post back later about it. I would have before but I've been battling the flu and can't hardly hear and no one can hear me either lol.
