what is safe to take for a stomach virus?

Bypass friend suffering from a Stomach virus, any advice on what will help?

If fresh post op-like 6 months or less, best to check with doc first. If not able to hold anything down-not even water-then call doc, no matter how far out, as dehydration can come on VERY quicky and be very serious in WLS pts..

For "run of the mill" gut bugs, we are pretty much like anyone else. I'd stay on clear liquids, choke down Pepto Bismol if am REALLY sick, take OTC med for diarrhea, and let bug run its course..

It's important to ease back into eating..liquids..then soft..etc..like you would do a child..like the BRAT diet..Bananas/Rice/Applesauce/Toast..but I skip rice part

Hope that helps..but mostly..watch intake vs output-most important part!
