Gall bladder removal?
Check with your surgeon to see why but it is not uncommon,
Good luck on your WLS journey,

Thanks for that! I actually received a call from my surgeon shortly after the surgery center informed me of the schedule to remove gall bladder. He was calling to let me know that testing had indicated the presence of stones and taking it out now is the best option. So--I'll be less some stomach and a gall bladder Monday afternoon. Yay me!

ROSE-I'm glad your doc is taking your GB out, during your WLS. It will save you time, pain and $$, down the road..
The "simple" explanation, as I know it (30+ yr nurse here):
Rapid wt loss..of any means..causes a rise in the uric acid levels, which leads to STONES..gall stones..kidney stones..gout..Gall Bladder dysfunction very, very common after weight loss..so obviously..is common after WLS..
In some states, it is illegal to remove a "healthy" organ, so your doc was wise to check your GB ahead and time and deem it "unhealthy". he's doing you a favor. The recovery time shouldn't be any different, and you won't be able to tell the difference in your body, since EVERYTHING will feel DIFFERENT, for awhile anyway!
Keep those questions coming, girl! We have been where you are, and are here to help and support you !!
