Morning everyone. How was your weekend? Ours was busy- as usual. Saturday we went to dinner with Bryan's family for both Bryan's dad and for Christopher's birthday. They both have birthday on the same day- June 3. And then yesterday we took Chris- 4 friends, his cousins Sophia and Maya, Sophia's friend Cassie, and my BIL Manuel to Main Event for laser tag. Bryan, Christy, the baby and I just hung out while they played. Christy put Maggie in a front carrier and that way she and I could play skeeball and stuff. Maggie loved it. I think everyone had a great day.

I'm headed to Austin in the morning and will be back Thursday afternoon. This will be a first- I'm not driving! I'm riding with someone. I don't like the idea of not having a car but I'm trying it out because I'd rather someone else have the mileage on their car and then my foot won't hurt so bad.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

 Morning Everyone,

I wish I could say nothing going on in my life but trust me....It would be far from the truth.    My 26 yr.old son is probably not going back to the Teen Challenge in SA.    They have BLACK MOLD there and there is a good chance that some of his health issues he is now facing is caused by that.   I did say CHANCE.   Let;'s face facts.....probably his former drug addictions could be a MAJOR factor in it too.    Not that his heart issues weren't bad enough....he passed out and hit the street and ended up in the ER ( sat. PM ).    His kidneys are NOT functioning properly and he has a concussion too.   Seems like a black cloud is following him around lately.    He was SO close to graduating the TC program too.   Please keep him in your prayers.    He's calling the center today and talking to the person over it to see if they could make a exception and let him graduate now....I know that won't happen though.   I see way too many other issues coming up in the Azle center and one of the rules is you have to be in the program 365 days and have finished Ultimate Journey ( he had just started that ) and he lacks 60 days being in there a year.   Oh well....that is LIFE....loves to throw curve balls at me.    Too bad I can't CATCH them.   LOL   So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.    I would LOVE to have a drama free life....but guess that will never happen.    Have a wonderful day and stay hydrated !!!

So sorry Shawn is dealing with all of this. But, I think in my own personal opinion (and what I would tell a client) is that to not look at the glass as being 1/2 empty, but as being 1/2 full. Look at all that has been accomplished despite many obstacles. Getting sober is full of obstacles - some of them made by the addict on their own and some thrown their way as obstacles in life are normal. The key thing to look at is that he faced all of them head on without turning to dope to deal with them. That is an amazing feat.
Have you researched any sober houses in your area? There are both good ones and bad ones. You need to look for ones that specific rehab centers recommend to their clients. Also, see if there is a Right Step program up there and if they have meetings that he can attend.

Anne....I am extremely proud of him.   Even if he doesn't graduate the Teen Challenge program he is NOT the same person he was 10 months ago.   At the ER the other night....he told them when they were going to give him something for pain in his veins ( which they never could find a good vein after trying 4 times ) that he didn't want anything given to him that was addictive.    I KNOW he is a success.    Yes....there are lots of meetings here that he can attend lots at local churches.    Sowe are looking into options....but I really would like if at all possible for him to finish that program maybe at a different TC since there are mold issues in SA.    But if he doesn't finish...that doesn't mean he will relapse into his old habits.    BUT we do still have to be aware that relapses do happen to some people.   I am SO very proud of him and how very far he has come.    Thank you for your advice.

Thanks Gina.    We will check it out.    Still not sure what is going to happen.   He has called the main person over the TCSA....he is waiting on a returned call.  He tried to call to get a apointment with heart doc this AM but had a hour phone wait.   He must be good for that kind of phone wait.   LOL  He's going to try again later today before they close.    Hopefully he can get in and get the halter monitor.   Thanks for the help.

I know a couple (husband and wife) that run a local sober house. I will get you their info. Hopefully they can give you some local options.
