Tuesday WLS Express
Good morning, all ! I've been up since 03:30..no doubt I'll be sorry later, but my brain (and bladder..TMI?) just decided it was time to get up)...I've done my morning prayer time, watched yesterday's "Y&R", and now "Jerry Springer" is on--full morning!! I'll be napping at red lights later...
Busy, busy work day yesterday-2 admissions, and 2 passings. Both deaths were expected, of course, but they are still "hard" on everyone. One lady had scads of family, and the other lady had no blood family, but had lots of nursing home caregivers who dearly loved her (she had lived there for over 10 yrs). A loss is a loss-and SOMEBODY is going to feel the pain. It's also hard for our field staff, who had to go from the death visit (with someone they had grown close to) straight to a new admission. Tough day, all around. I work with some truly fabulous people...
Did y'all know you can boil marijuana and make tea and butter? Amazing what you can learn..lol..One of our pt's husbands called yesterday and asked me if we (the hospice) would cover the cost of the pot... he then explained to me how to cook it. I googled, and found hundreds of "recipes"..but..NO..pot is NOT on our pharmacy formulary...drats...
Eating/fluids/vitamins going well...exercise could always be better...still can't build up much speed or distance, cuz of the bum knee, so try to make up for it with weights/intensity..but my heart just isn't in it right now..I need new "goals" to work toward, in this area...like "Ms Universe"...yea, right....or maybe "Ms Flabby Over Fifty"...
Sooooo...anyhoo...how's YOUR Tuesday going????

We Can Do Hard Things
Ordering new bed and bedding. ours is 23 yrs old and a 330 lb woman left a huge dent in the mattress. Carpeting for new house is ordered and will goin the 21st!!We close on the 15th and take possesion on the 19th, maybe ssoner! so excited!
Question for yall! What is something youhave added to your bucket list since you have changed your life with wls?
go out and make it a great day or just fake it!
Meggie
MEGGIE--soooooooooooooo excited for you on the house!!!!!
My bucket list??? The "already done" would be the half-marathon (done X 2--plenty for me)-- but my "personal favorite" came in post op year two-riding The Titan-for the 1st time, with my youngest spawn, Chris. He was 10, I think, and he told me "Don't hold your arms up, cuz your skin might make the roller coaster slow down, and we'll crash."...Out of the mouths of smart azz babes. of course, he's also the one who got up in fron of the entire cafeteria, the day of my WLS, and asked his school to "Pray for my mom. she is having surgery today to move her TESTICLES and make her her skinny."
GREAT question !
Something I still WANT to do is bunge jump. Any takers???

"Don't hold your arms up, cuz your skin might make the roller coaster slow down, and we'll crash."
those made me laugh !!
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.
- Total Lost: 139 lbs
- Current Weight: 263
- As of 11-10-13 I have had weight gain. Not happy about that.
- RNY: 10-16-07 = 338: Highest weight: 350+ Lowest Weight: 199
1) getting back on roller skate which I did about 2 yrs ago when I was at my lower weight (199-220) I'm now 263 - I'm sharing so that I can keep track and somewhat accountability because I know that everyone cares and has noticed..
2) Riding a bicycle - one that rolls outside - around - not staying in one place
Well - you all know where that went - BUT WHAT COUNTS - I DID IT !! So what it was only for 45 min and it was a wonderful time while I was upright that is! I'm thinking about getting an adult tricycle - 3 wheeler - Ive seen them but not in my budget......no where to store it in my apartment and no what to easily get it in and out of my car - and to the park...... But I'm still thinking about it....
