Speaking of surgeons. . .

Hi, everyone - don't know if I've posted on the TMB yet (lousy memory), but if not, I'm from C.C., and currently in the process of exploring WLS.  I'm wondering if anyone has any information on Dr. Lloyd Stegemann.  Right now, the pickins for surgeons are kind of slim here; there are only a handful of doctors who do bariatric surgery, and he's one of only two on my insurance.  Actually, he's been in S.A., but is expanding his practice to here and San Angelo (??? - seems like a heck of a commute, LOL!)  I've tried to do some digging via Google, and from what I've read, he's top notch.  I searched his name here on OH, and all the review were positive.  Plus, I understand he's very involved in the OAC, and I think maybe the ASMBS.

If any of you know him or know how to get additional information on his stats, I sure would appreciate hearing from you.  If any of you are from C.C., it would be great to hear from you, too!

My appointment with him is Tuesday, the 28th, and I'm really looking forward to getting this show on the road.  Like a lot of other people, I've struggled with weight all my life, and I'm really tired of it.  I turned 60 last October, and feel like I'm at the end of my rope, and it's time to do something, even if I do it wrong.

I've been enjoying reading a lot of the OH message boards, and it was especially great to learn there was one for Texas in particular.  Now if I could find some folks from C.C., I'd be thrilled!

Wishing you all well.

Beth

Hi BETH ! Sorry for the delayed response-not seeing this until Wednesday am. WELCOME to the TMB!!!!

Sorry I can't help you regarding surgeons in your area. I live in Joshua-up by Ft. Worth. Just to let you know-miles have never stood in the way of the TMB "family" getting to know each other. We've done LOTS of road trips over the years...

I had RNY almost 10 yrs ago, when I was 44. I am now 200% healthier than I was then. 60 is the new 30, ya know!!

I noticed you rode yesterday's "Train" (the WLS Express"-KUDOS!!! I want to encourage you to jump aboard every day. it's the quickest/easiest way to get acquainted with everyone-and help us get to know you. It's like walking into "Cheers"-where you can just be YOU...talk about your day...good stuff..bad stuff..crappy stuff..questions..fears...brag on kids..whatever..

I look forward to getting to know you better and sharing your journey with you!

Thanks for sharing your story with me, Gina.  It's really encouraging to hear from people who've had the surgery and lived so long to tell about it!  (That probably sounded kind of funny, but hopefully you know what I'm trying to say. )  One of the reasons - actually, the main reason - I want to have surgery is just to feel better, to get my life back.  I feel like I've backed myself into such a corner, that I just have to do something to get out of it.  I'm really stubborn, and all this time, I've told myself, "Beth, you can do this, you can just push yourself away from the table", yada, yada, yada, but you see where that's gotten me!  Getting serious about having surgery has given me a real boost, thinking about actually getting some of this danged weight off of me.

Ok, as I said in another tread, I'm procrastinating, so I'd better get off my duff.  Talk to you later, I hope!

Beth
