Interesting news from Cleveland!

Well the Cleveland Clinic is an amazing place! They are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The bariatric facilities are well run and efficient and VERY thorough. I will be returning in July for surgery.

My abdomen ,as the doc said, is a swiss cheese of hernias. The non-biological mesh used to repair my hernias is being rejected by my body and we have 2 routes. Pain management or surgery. We are going with surgery. He will go in open and get a good look, take down adhesions and put in more fabric to repel aedhesions all over my abdomen. The mesh will be replaced with a biological mesh (pig or human cadaver---I will either oink in my sleep or be part zombie). But the best part is...in order to repair my abdomen they will tighten up my abdominal wall and remove the excess skin!!! Sort of a modified tummy tuck!!!! I will be there 3-5 days and then fly home. Mom and the good sis are going with me!

As far as neurology goes...the problem is my meds I take. 5 neurologist have missed it but she actually read my file and saw what happened. 4 of 6 of my meds cause rebounding in migraines, I am never really getting rid of them! So we have stopped everything except thyroid and Prosac( it may have to change also) got a new sleeping pil, a referral to a headache specialist here in ft worth and a plan of action from there!

All in all it waas an excellent experience and I feel really positive about my future now. I feel vindicated that I am not neurotic or a hyperchondriac. I feel at peace with my health for the first time in a long time!! Life is going to be all right after all! my only fear is telling my boss I am going to be out again!! She is going to kill me!

Oh and on another note my pouch is still very small, there are no ulcers or scaring from my ulcers. The nutritionist said ,in front of mother my nutrtion is great and she had nothing to offer me in the way of advice but to continue what I am doing!! She even told my mother yes it is ok that I eat mexican food!! Evidently this really bothered mom, in fact mom said she might be able to learn something from me!  Bwahahaha...vindication!!!!

OK....Meggie.......You are going to REALLY be teeny tiny once they tighten your muscles and remove excess skin !!!!   I am praying really hard that this will be the LAST surgery you will have to have except ones that you want to have ( elective - plastic surgery ) if you want more.   Love you girl and so happy for you !!!!

That is great news!!!

Just asking, can the new Doc not repair/remove the hernias that you presently have when he goes in.  And just think you get the modified tummy tuck with all of that.  Will insurance cover the tummy tuck part, or is that the general method of correcting this type of issue??  Just wondering that is all.

And then to find some relief regarding your migraines, I guess this week was a complete WIN/WIN scenario for you.

Take care GF.
