I need to get back to exercising too. I was doing so well before my recent surgery and although I am cleared for light exercise I just can't seem to get back on that damned bike.
Tell you what, I will do 5 min this morning if you take 5 min to do some sort of exercise. Just 5 minutes,we will start with that and progress from there together. Will you join me?
The eating you just have to buckle down and do it.plan your meals, don't keep change in your desk at work (then you cant buy snacks, leave the money in the trunk of your car then you have to exercise to get it), Keep a journal, I am more likely to avoid the evil foods if I have to write them down,. Start signing on with Paiges dailey plate!!
Anyone else want to join in on my 5min of exercise and start with me???
Meggie
I have a CD on motivation by Katy Jay w/ NAWLS. It's amazing. PM you address to me and I'm happy to send it to you.
Also, I have my low moments too. Keep in mind this WLS journey is a process. So try not to get so down on yourself. -- Even if you don't want to, just "do" the next right thing. Pick the right food, go to the gym or for a walk around the block. -- Just do it, let's not worry so much about the WHY? WHY? WHY?
Hugs,
Lisa

Right now I am training again for another marathon and I need to get this baby weight off. I'm going on a cruise in November to the Caribbean and I want to feel good in a swim suit.
There are two kinds of motivation in the world- positive and negative:
Negative motivation keeps us from things that have negative impacts on our lives- like speeding- we don't want a ticket, negative motivation also keeps us from showing up late to work everyday- we don't want to lose our jobs, etc etc... eating unhealthy and not exercising can cause long lasting effects on our bodies (which is why most of us had surgery). I'm not good with negative motivation, I'm more of a carrot dangling kind of gal. I need a reason. A BIG reason. Two pounds here, one pound there, a sore back, etc are all negative consequences BUT it doesn't happen all in one night so to me its not really an affect. I didn't weigh almost 300lbs because of nothing and it didn't happen overnight either. If negative motivation worked for me then I would have never been 300lbs to begin with. The surgery was supposed to 'fix" that part of it. Most of us go into the surgery suite with the mindset that the surgery will take care of the weight issues. When that didn't happen for me I had to find the positive motivation aspect of my weight loss journey. Hence the jeans, the marathon, and now a bathing suit.
I have to have a great reason to want to work out and to want to eat healthy. This is the positive side of motivation. When I could shop at regular clothing stores in the mall, when I hit that single digit in my pants size, when I could run more than ten feet and not get winded, etc etc... then I moved on to bigger things to push myself.... setting goals... setting bigger goals, and never stopping the bar! Whenever I stop pushing myself I find myself sliding back down into bad habits.
My point of this jargon- Phyllis YOU have to find your motivation. You need to figure out if you are going to do this for the negative aspect of it- that eating unhealthy and not exercising is going to harm you. Or you need to find something to work towards- a certain weight, an outfit, an accomplishment...whatever your drive is. Take baby steps- 5 minutes on a treadmill, 2 pounds a week are all attainable. Set your baby steps up for a bigger goal- running a 5k full out with no stopping, a certain goal weight magic number...and then don't ever give up on that and don't ever settle!
Good luck!
Love you!
Tracey

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW.....a person would have to be DEAD not to be MOTIVATED after all these wonderful posts..especially TRACEY's...no wonder she works with WORDS for a living...
I certainly cannot say it as well as everyone else already has. I'll only agree..and repeat:
NEVER, EVER EVER GIVE UP ..What was the quote JENN D gave me the other day? hmmm...let me paraphase it...
Something like.."Never give up on what you wanted to be"...Lord knows, and HE proved to me it's never too late to do what HE wants to help you do..you just have to ask
