OT: Cruise - Passport started!
I FINALLY got to the post office this morning to apply for my passport! Got there at 8:35 a.m. because I was told they open at 9 am. - nope, they open at 9:30 a.m.! Oh well, got a chair and was first in line, so I can wait. At 9:35 they finally unlock the doors. I had to sign in and go sit back down in the chair. Ten minutes later someone finally beckoned me in, and then I got to stand there for 15 minutes and watch her put away her stamps, money, and other things. Actual process was about 3 minutes, so it's done - she said 4-6 weeks but usually faster. One thing that did kind of freak me out is they keep your birth certificate and don't send it bac****il AFTER you get your passport - hope I don't need it before then! I knew I should have ordered a second copy when I got that one.

I hope you aren't counting on that 'usually faster than 4-6 weeks'. Beast had to renew his passport this year for our June Roatan trip. We sent it in the first of April and just got it back last week. He was beginning to sweat! Good thing is you can go online and track the progress. If it gets really close to your cruise date, you can contact them with your departure date and copy of your ticket and they will expedite it...for more $$ of course!!!
I got mine a few weeks ago.....took about 2-3 weeks is all. I stood in line forever........major ordeal here in Irving PO...................YES - THEY DID KEEP MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE and it came about the same day or 2 later after the passcard arrived.........UNDER SEPERATE ENVELOPE...
IT'LL BE OKAY.................... I did a passcard because they were cheaper...............
passcard vs passport.......
passcard - can be used if you are gonna go in and out through the us ports - ground travel only.
not valid for airflights across seas.........etc........
passport...just about anywhere for any type of travel....
