Hello rycry,

Yes....I can tell you about the OH Conferences.   They are a total blast !!!!   You will get to the hotel and be greeted by OH Volunteers welcoming you to the Conference.   Then friday night there is a meet and greet which consists of light finger foods.   You mingle and meet other OH members there.   Then on satuday AM the fun begins with doctors and other speakers speaking to us about various subjects.   Then you have break out sessions where you can go and listen to doctors or speakers on a smaller scale then there is a dance and casino night on saturday night and a fashion show.    It is so much fun.   Your grandmother is welcome to come as long as you pay for her to attend.    Hope that you can come and hope to meet you if I haven't already at one of Dr. Kim's support groups.

I am sure Vivian touched on most of the points.
I just wanted to touch on some that I feel are most important. Since I am Veteran I can tell you that I would probably have gained all my weight back if it weren't for the people that I have met off of here and at the OH conferences.

That is just the few that I can throw out there this early in the morning. These people touched my life and changed me forever. Not the surgery. That is only half of it.
SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT
I don't know how far out you are or even what kind of surgery. But, if we did not need support, we would not have needed the surgery to begin with. So, yes go to the Conference take what you need from in for informational purposes and bond.. that is priceless. You may not need them today. But, I give you my word.. you will.

Smile, it increases your face value.

Bring her, many bring family members, friends or spouses that haven't had WLS.  That's awesome that she wants to be there with you and offer support.
