Aaahhh, another crazy week done and over with. Heck, the MONTH is over with even! Let's see....gotta fill you in on the week's stuff since I have been very MIA this week. Sarah had her usual Mon & Wed tennis class. When they were all done on Wed, the instructors had em' all "huddle up". He told them they did great and to keep it up. He then pointed out a few kids and asked them to stay behind and dismissed the rest. He told the five or six kids there that they were ready to move up to the next group level. Sarah was in that group, probably the youngest one of them. Now this next group has a larger range of kids. There are a few her age, but most start at 10 or so. The majority of this next group are probably 10-12 years old. There are a few who are 12-14 but most of those, if they have the drive, move on up to the high school level which 14 IS high school aged (9th grade). I remember when V was in the "Challenger" group which is where Sarah just moved to and she was so frustrated when she'd see kids move up and she didn't move up. There is a pretty big step up skill wise from the Challenger to the Masters group so they definitely don't want to put a kid in there and then have them crash and burn and get so frustrated with it that they quit. The coach told me they didn't want Sarah to get "stagnent" and she had definitely topped out in the group she was at. Sooo, now we move from Monday and Wednesdays to Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7. We used to only go for an hour and a half (5:30-7:00) so now a half hour sooner.
The girls got their report cards - Sarah got straight A's. She also got another piece of her artwork selected to be shown in the district art show. She has an opportunity for the piece to get picked for permanent display in one of the Administrative Buildings. I don't care either way. If it gets selected, then she gets a plaque commemorating it but of course they would keep her art. When they don't keep it, I get it and it gets hung up. It's really a win-win either way.
I don't know how the heck she did it, but V brought the math grade from a 68 to an 80. Since it is an AP class, grade point wise, that's equiv. to an "A". Unbelievable. It was a bad six weeks for ALL those kids so the teacher had dropped a quiz grade and added a re-test and those two combined helped her out tremendously.
Heather got all A's and one B. Fabulous. She will be inducted into the National Honor Society next Wednesday. Never ever did I think we'd be doing that with the issues she has had. She has fought, scratched and scrounged for every grade she's gotten. Granted, I'm still on her like no tomorrow, but SHE has to take those tests and quizzes, not me. SOOOO proud of her!!!
TAAKS tests are over with this week too! HALLELUJAH!!! (I just HATE them and man are they a sore subject with me but whatever, it is what it is)
I THINK that's it. My head is still going in circles. The sad part is the "busy" weeks haven't even started. We have something going on almost three nights a week for the next 2-3 weeks. WAAAHHH!!! Can't wait to get off this crazy ride!!!!
Sorry your work situation is the way it is. Hope it gets better.
Another rough day at work today. Too many no shows. Pay checks are supposed to be passed out on Saturday, but I always pass them out on Thursday. For 14 years. Well, today one of the girls missed work for the 4 straight Friday. A little too obvious to me. So now her payday becomes Saturday. I am tired of the crap. I would rather just terminate her, but the boss is afraid of the unemployment insurance going up.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
