It is Fiesta brand meat tenderizer that I purchase from HEB. I believe it does not have any MSG. Most of them on the market should not have MSG. I would also watch the amount of tenderizer because a key ingredient is salt. I try to watch my sodium intake. Thank you for the recommendation to expand the use as i will try the next time I cook.
I just love my Pure Protein bars (available at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Target, etc.) .. They do have some chocolate standards, like chocolate fudge, Smores, chocolate chip, and chocolate-PB, but they also have a strawberry bar and, even better, their blueberry bar, for variety.
The blueberry bar is more like a vanilla bar (not sure what else to call it) with some blueberry "jelly" spread on top of it .. So chewy and sweet ..
Each bar has about 20 grams of protein and only 2 or 3 grams of carbs .. They come six to a box for about $6. They do contain sugar alcohols, though, so you can't be sensitive to those ..
So far Kroger's is the only place I have found the blueberry and strawberry varieties, and only one of our two local Kroger's even carries those .. You could probably get them online somewhere too, though ..

I have tried the pure protein bars they are a little too sweet to me. I am currently working with a place that I buy my carbquik, granola, low carb protein cookies, and hot cereal from to make my own protein enriched baked goods. I am going to check out the OH recipe section to see what others have done. I am also going to due a expiremental batch of strawberry scones enriched with protein later today. I have a recipe for blueberry scones that I made last weekend that I am changing up to support doing the strawberry scones. Once I have it perfected I will post it for others if they want to try it. But for now it is a little hobbie making something that me and my family can eat that is healthy. Plus my nutritionist wants me to add some more fruit to my diet that is low in sugar content so she recommended berries and melons.
