I survived yesterday

I went to a gathering at a friends house for a group I am in.  I figured it would do me good to get out for a bit and socialize.  I brought food, hummus and spinach dip I bought at the store.  I took my protein drink with me, and had that, and one time had the urge to grab a chip, but reminded myself, I am still on liquids.

So I behaved and did not have anything.  But boy was I tired when I got home, went straight to bed.

Drug myself out of bed this morning because, it was time to go see the doc to get my *tether* drain removed.

OMG, I think instantly I felt sooo much better.  Evidently that stupid stitch to keep it in place was the problem behind my pain, but it is out, he said everything looks good right now, and just keep up with fluids and my last week of liquids.  Which wouldn't be so bad if everything was not sweet.  I mean pre surgery yeah I liked sweets, just not like now, I also liked flavor.  I told my boyfriend, I am serioiusly considering getting some V-8 and a touch of tabasco sauce in it, just for flavor.

But in the mean time, I will put a pinch of a spice I have called Krazy Salt, and lick that, and I am in heaven for a bit.  Ok enough of me rambling.
I have started a blog all of my own for this journey.  Please follow me at www.digitalsheep.org.

Shawn....so glad that stitch and the drain is now gone.  Yes...how I remember feeling human once those things were gone.  LOL...be sure to read the labels and watch for where sugar is...don't want you to experience dumping so early out.

Glad to hear you got that stinkin drain out.  I hate those things.  I ate a lot of soup when I was on the liquid part cuz like you I got tired of the sweet.  BTW-you might want to update your physician status.  I know Dr Ritter doesn't do revisions-don't want to confuse anyone. (Plus you'll give your current doc full credit).

Glad your drains are gone, those just aren't fun.

What about some hot and sour soup you could strain it and eat the broth only.  The spice would do you good to help with the salt/spicy craving.

I remember when my drain came out...I 'instantly' felt better.

Good for you!

So glad you are doing well and avoiding temptation.  Like Stephanie, I ate a lot of soups because I didn't want all sweets during the liquid phase.  I ate cream of chicken and tomato soup, potato soup and also made seafood bisque and used my immersion blender in the soup pot to liquify it.  Keep up the good work.
