Challenges

Ok I am now 6 days out since surgery, this sleeping on my back is getting old.  I have tried propping myself by putting a pillow under my tummy but yeah, maybe once the drain is out, this problem will be resolved.

Also, where I thought I had gas in my left shoulder, nope we think I pulled a muscle in recovery trying to shift myself, so if I roll or set my shoulder forward, I have the most intense pain, like more intense than I had in recovery, which travels down to my left side.  Ugh, hence me being up at 3:45 in the morning.  Oh well at least I do not have to go to work tomorrow.
I have started a blog all of my own for this journey.  Please follow me at www.digitalsheep.org.

Shawn....I am SO sorry that you are going through all this.   Trust me....when the drain comes out you will feel somewhat normal again !!!!   Put some heat and then cool packs on the shoulder and see if that will help you out.   We are ALL here for you to encourage you on this journey that you are now beginning again.    Hope you get to feeling better real soon.   I know I used several pillows EVERYWHERE to make me more comfortable sleeping.   Prayers for you to feel better real soon.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE;   COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN;  AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!    THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

I am sorry that you are hurting.  Maybe your doctor will give you a muscle relaxer for your shoulder.  Make sure to take your pain meds before the pain gets out of control.  Viv is right, you will feel better when the drain tube is removed.

Just remember, we are here when you need support.  We also like to hear when you are doing good... so.... when the weight starts melting off... make sure you tell us about it.  The pain will pay off.

When gas gets trapped under your diaphram it results in a referred pain to your shoulder.  It can feel like a pulled muscle or a broken shoulder.  It is very painful.  I had my hubby "burp" me like a baby to get it to move.  Keep up with the Gas-X too, it should help.
