OT: April - Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)
The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).
The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence (focusing on sexual assault and rape) and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.
It is important to know how to get help - for yourself or for someone you love.
If you find you find yourself in danger, try to find a safe place away from your attacker. Then call 911 or your local police dept.
Talk with a counselor at the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).
Remember the victim/survivor is NEVER at fault!!!!

This may not be directly on point, but in a related vein ...
There was a news bit I think in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram a couple of days ago about how stalkers (particularly vindictive ex-spouses) are using their victim's own cellphones, computers and GPS technology to aid their stalking efforts. They basically manage to implant tracking stuff inside their cellphone's programming or a "beeper" in their car Also, that software that allows a computer user at a remote location to control someone else's computer or track their keystrokes can be put onto someone's computer unaware .. The article mentioned how a stalker's ex was recently killed by him a few months ago in Hurst by using just such technology, which he had put into her computer before their break-up w/o her knowledge .. Scary stuff!

I read that instead of pepper spray, it's suggested you keep a can of wasp killer at your bedside. It's cheaper and you can find it anywhere.
Reminds me of that Farrah Fawcett movie where she turned the tables on the rapist. She sprayed him with bug spray. (can't remember the name of the movie)

It is true that the Wasp spray works better.
You get better range as it can be sprayed a huge distance.
