Starting this Journey Again
I wi**** could be presented positively and CONSERVATIVELY,....I feel it's best to speak positively about your experience without the negativity of the other surgeries..
This is what I tend to do. Go below and read my post to the OP. When sharing info on the DS, I tend to do so by recommending one do their research on all 4 types. I also will say that I felt the DS was the best surgery choice for ME. If someone wants to know why I felt that way or why I chose the DS, THEN I will go on to explain my reasoning and why I felt that made it the best choice for ME. This does happen to be difficult to do without pointing out why I felt it was better than the other options, but (again) I don't just spew that stuff without first being asked what my reasons were.
I wish everyone the best, regardless of what surgery they choose.
Feel free to review my previous posts if you want to review my posting style. (I think you can do this via my profile, which I think is public.)

tessy,
You post at the bottom was very well written and I was going to comment positively on that, but it might be misconSCREWED as pissy.
My original post was to reassure this person to please listen to all the options. I just beg to wonder why Non TMBers suddenly show up and post about DS when someone asks about options. Why is that necessary.
Tessy, had your post been the first one, I would have been very happy to see it. I only wish that more posters DS and NON DS alike would be that open minded and informative.

We will be staying with my sister in law and her family. We will probably make it a one week trip and split it between SLC and SG since hubby has family both places. The reunion is in SLC. Been to Park City, can not handle the altitude. That was pre WLS and I fell asleep at the lunch table and slept all the way back to SLC! What is there to do in SG?

When are you going to be here?
There are lots of National Parks close by; Zion, Bryce, The North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There are some really great golf courses, there's an outdoor theatre and Mesquite NV is 35 miles away if you want to gamble.
It does get HOT in the summer time, so it depends on what time of year you're going to be here as to what I would suggest.

I know about Texas heat too; we did a job at Ft. Hood a few years ago and I was there during two summers. Texas heat was bad if there was no breeze, but if there's a little breeze it wasn't too bad. SG is a whole other kinda heat, it gets to be 115-120 and 0 humidity, when the wind blows it's like a blast furnace.
Well you would probably like driving through Zion, Bryce and to the North Rim. I would recommend you see all those if you have time and have lunch at the lodge at the North Rim.
There are also some museums here and lots of great restaurants. Not much in the way of antiques, this is a kind of boom town; when I graduated High School back in 1970 there were 3500-4000 people living here, now there are around 150,000. Lots of shopping and all the malls and stores have AC.
Also Las Vegas NV is only 120 miles South of here if you want to see a show or see Vegas.

Do you visit the Texas board often? I haven't seen your posts before.
Having RNY some 30 years ago would likely lead to a revision. How it was done then as opposed to now is, indeed, quite different. In fact, my orginal WLS was almost 30 years ago, and I too, had to be revised to RNY.
I am sorry that YOU had a bad experience with RNY. Fortunately there are many that are quite happy with it. But again, it's up to the patient to decide.
