I don't see the need to be ugly.  He was just sharing 'his' story....and he didn't have a positive experience LONG TERM with the RNY.

The statistics do show higher BMI's do better with the DS.  Facts are facts.

She ASKED for suggestions, "Can any of you please give me any recommendations you have on choosing the type of surgery to have?" - and so I offered her a suggestion.....so did Kerry.

I am not making negative comments about anyone else - or their choice of surgery.  Everyone needs to choose what is BEST FOR THEM!

It is very important to research ALL weight loss surgeries, though.  Other wise, how can one make a truly informed decision on which is best for them??

Please don't make personal attacks.  We were only trying to help.

And is one of the criteria for the RNY to get pissy whenever someone suggests to a pre-op to consider the DS?

The "mess" was started when Becky got ugly.....not by a DSer!

I'd love to know where it says "My surgery is better than yours"??  I read that one DSer had an RNY - was successful for a while - then had trouble with it.  He then had the DS and is very happy with the results.

No where do I see any DSers on this post saying it is 'the only' surgery to consider - Nor do I see anything negative about any other surgery......  The only negative things said was that the RNY didn't work for him.  Period.

I AM a Texan...... related to Sam Houston and one of the first Texas Rangers.  I'm very proud to be a Texan - but am NOT proud to be associated with nasty, judgmental and bigoted people.

When someone asks for help and it is offered - don't attack the hand trying to help them just because their opinion might be different from yours.

Actually, I don't start messes.  You don't know me from Adam.  I am actually very careful in how I post when suggesting someone consider the DS because I know that many DSers have a bad rap with regards to sharing info.  I always recommend a person research all 4 options thoroughly and take into consideration their own personality, medical and diet history, etc. when making their decision.

I am here because I can be.  ;)

Why don't we all just settle down and take a deep breath and end this thread. All this has gotten out of hand. Lets just say goodnight and end the slinging from all sides.
