Third Week Post RNY Surgery
Hello al I thought I would give you an update.
I am 3 weeks post surgery. 1.5 weeks since I went back to work.
I have lost 27 pounds since I went in for surgery or 1.29 pounds a day. Overall I have lost 113 pounds since Oct 1 2009 (first doc visit) or .6 pounds a day overall.
Doctor Garth let me starting adding soft food in this week. I have stuck with shakes, baked white fish, some blended veggies and eggs. Shakes are getting very old though. I bought the unflavored mix to add into soups and veggies to spice things up.
Mild pain here and there. Sort of feels like a shock. No dumping, but I have been very careful.
Lots of gas. I am thinking it is mainly from my cpap mask as I am in deep ketosis and carbs are at almost zero.
Clothes are finally getting baggy. Going to have to shift down here pretty quick.
Take care and let me know if any of you have questions! Thanks.

Congratulations on being 3 weeks out, it sounds like things are going really well!
I'm 2.5 weeks from having RNY so I'm interested..he was your energy level going back to work 1.5 weeks out? Did you go back full time or do some part time?
Also, what type of unflavored protein did you get?
I hadn't thought about the cpap causing gas...uh oh, thanks for the heads up on that one!!!
Congrats again and thanks for sharing your experience, it does help those of us who are new!

Sorry for the delay is responding! I'm glad to post hoping someone might get something useful ourt of it. Something I wish I had available!
Break a leg of your surgery!
Energy comes and goes. Mostly up thankfully. I just hit the proverbial wall from time to time and have to sit down for a while.
Soreness is basically gone.
I went back to light duty work exactly a week after surgery, and back to the office in 1.5.
My pouch is very very small it was explained to me. Smaller than they used to do them Dr. Davis told me. Soo... eating is quite tough. I have not dumped, but I have had 2 shooting pain episodes when I had eaten too fast.
Also grinding up pills and putting them in food sucks and tastes nasty. Order you a mortar and pestle from amazon it really helps out.
I mainly use the Bariatric Advantage protein shakes, but man they get old. You can order a savory option from UNJURY (google it)... The chicken soup option is very tasty. Tastes like Chicken in a Biscuit crakers to me. You make it hot so you naturally have to drink it slowly.
Let me know if you need anything else!

thanks for the suggestions! I ordered the unjury sample packs a few weeks ago and have them in the pantry ready for action. I am very excited about the chicken soup tasting like those chicken in a bisquit crackers...I love those!
Now I just need to order that mortar and pestal. I went to crate and barrel a few weekends ago to get one but I didn't think I needed a $50 one!
Thanks again

Can i ask why your pouch was made so small? Good idea in the long run, just nosy lol
