Afternoon everyone! I'm a week and two days into recovery from a Gastric Roux en Y Bypass done in San Antonio, Texas with Dr John J Gonzalez.

I know the reasons I've down this but WOW this clear liquid diet is driving me insane! The office hasn't told me when I can have any kind of substance.. and that's driving me INSANE. I go to see him for the post op visit and... FOUR HOUR CLASS hopefully then I'll be able to know something!

I've lost 25 lbs in this time which is NICE. :) And I'm proud of myself. Just feel like I'm drowning in water LOL

It's crazy to realize that I ate when I was bored... I feel almost like I don't know myself any more because I can't think of things to do. It was just eat eat eat for NO REASON. Also FOOD is everywhere. On TV shows on Video Games on Billboards EVERY WHERE. Ugh!

I'm having  a hard time on this post op diet... I'm ready to eat already even if it's smaller amounts and all.... but all  in all I do NOT regret this!

It will be okay -  just be patient..........we've been there..............enjoy those liquids.....lol

You can have other things that just plain water -  right?     Crystal ligh****er.........flavors, etc...
Chicken broth stuff,  jello - etc.

If so -  Crystal Light has a popsicle out now in various flavor that I disovered this past weekend....YUMMY.......the orange is good............I tried another flavor - can't remember which one it was.........it was good too.......

I can't do plain water............OR ANY WATER .......i don't do much crystal light myself because I really got burned out.............but I loved the popsicles !!

GOOD LUCK.........STAY HERE ON THIS SITE AND WE'LL KEEP YA GOING !

Welcome to the TMB (Texas Message Board)!  The first bit of the journey can be tough, we've all been through the "what the heck" period.  Stay focused and follow your surgeon's program.  Do you have a nutritionist available through your program?

The liquids usually last a couple of weeks then you'll move up to softer foods before your probably get the go-ahead to try dense protein.

Keep sipping and walk when you find yourself bored.  Learn EVERYTHING you can now about yourself and your food dependency.....this is YOUR time!

Good Luck!

Ladies yesterday was my first day off of clear liquids I was in HEAVEN

Had a protein shake for breakfast
Had a quarter cup of non fat refried beans w/ non fat cheese on top for lunch
Had a quarter cup of scrambled eggs with non fat cheese and salsa on top of it

You'd have thought I was a piggie on how full I was LOL

Cajun - are you from Louisiana? I'm originally from New Orleans oh how I miss home but I know if I was to go visit mom and dad that food would be the death of me ;)

Your world will improve dramatically now that you're off liquids.  I remember the days when 2 ritz crackers with chicken salad was a meal...oh how I wish that were still true 3 years later, lol.  Good luck on your journey and post if you have questions.

And YES, Dana is our resident Cajun.  We have a few non-Texans on our board but we consider them "one of us".
