Yeast Infections

I have a serious problem with yeast, not just in my panniculi and excess skin folds, but in my genitals too. Powder does nothing, it just turns to paste.

I do realize that having reconstructive surgery will be the only permanent solution, but I do not have the means to have that done right now. ='(

Anyone have any suggestions and tips for how to treat this problem and attempt to prevent it?

Over the counter Monistat should do the trick.  If it's bad, take pics to prove to insurance so MAYBE you can get plastic surgery coverage.  Keep all the skin folds clean and dry-you can even put a clean towel or gauze in there to prevent moisture build-up.

I think the pics would be good for insurance if Ihad it, but I don't. Maybe if I start documenting now it'll help for when I get insurance them covering it or would that be a "pre-existing condition" thing?

I tried the Monistat, the one day ovule thing. It seemed to make it much worse. Perhaps it's a mutant strand? I will call my doctor (the one I went to when I did have insurance) and see if she'd be willing to call me in some Diflucan, generic of course tomorrow.

I am so sick of this issue.

You need to put the cream directly on the skin yeast-don't take it in pill form. It might burn and hurt worse for a day or two but then it should start to clear it up.  I would certainly take pics with dates on them.  Also keep all reciepts for any meds you purchase to prove that you tried to treat it.  That way if you get insurance, it shows what's been going on and for how long.

Are you using a hair dryer on cool setting to make sure everything is completely dry after showering? That plus powder and if needed, antibiotic cream works for me. Also, some people wash with Betadine-antibiotic soap that you can get at the pharmacy. I had a doctor who was large and told me he used it all time to prevent yeast infections in the skin folds.
But, it might be something you need to see the doctor for. They make prescription antibiotic creams that might work. I am not sure diflucan would work-isn't that just 1 pill? It porbably wouldn't be in your system long enough.
Good luck!

Antibiotics work on BACTERIA ONLY, not yeast. You're wasting your money.
I use OTC anti fungal cream under my breasts. Use the Walmart brand-it's cheaper.
I use to have a really bad case in my neck crease, but after using it diligently, it went away for good.

GIRL.........I never had yeast infections or UTI's until AFTER I HAD GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY-   we linked it to becoming dehydrated so much in my earlier days................now - not a problem....

With the UTI came antibiotics which always caused yeast infections..............SO DRINK MORE TOO............as for the yeast in the folds..............LIke Nurse Stephanie says -  just keep it clean and dry as much as possible................try this........I did this when I had my daughter by c-sections.......what about getting a kotex pad (think mini type)  and place it sideways - and let that absorb the moisture against the folds................did that make sense?

  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.
