BBQ in Denton?
on 4/2/10 10:47 am
I'm going to have my surgery Denton (Dr. Stewart), in the distant future.
I live in NYC where there is no good BBQ in sight; To some this would be considered a crime against humanity, and I wholeheartedly agree. So, can anyone recommend some good BBQ places around Denton and Dallas? I've NEVER had good BBQ- ever- and I'm hoping to cross this off my list before the surgery.
Any recommendations are much appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

I'm having my surgery in Denton, too! Dr. Stewart is wonderful....you're in good hands!
We were just there (pre-op test) and ate at The Texas Roadhouse. They don't have lots of BBQ choices, but they do have great ribs!! In fact, their ribs were voted 'best in North TX'! It's very close to Dr. Stewart's office, on I-35.
I had a steak - and it was cooked to perfection.....very tasty! My daughter had ribs and said they were some of the best she's ever had. That's saying a lot! :-)
Certainly there are some who live closer (I live in Houston) that will come along and share their favorite BBQ place.

According to all of the guys at my work the best in the area is the Hard 8. I've been there and it is really quite a fun atmosphere. Not your normal chain type of BBQ as there are only 3 locations throughout texas. It has the coolest pit where you select your food outdoors and is setup like a picnic. It's in Coppell which would be about a 20 minute drive for you (in Dallas terms this is nothing as we are so spread out). Again, I can't speak to quality of food (but others have told me) but for a NYer looking for something truly original and Texas...this is it.

Best of luck on your surgery!!!!
The new place has a take-out window only, and is located on Avenue "B", just a few blocks east of 1st Street. It's kinda hard to get to, in that you have to go east (one-way) on Ave. "D" off 1st, and then hook a u-turn onto "B" (one-way the other way) and come back west a block or two. It is on the south side of the street, and there is really not much room to park. You're better to call in your order ahead, so you can run up to the counter and get it right away and take off again. At lunch time there are people and cars lined up for the great stuff ..
