I totally agree with MEGGIE on this one-why fill up on something with absolutely NO nutritional value, that may trigger you to snack un-necessarily? I'm not saying NEVER, but do wait awhile, but then make it an occasional thing.

I believe I will just ommit it from my list of can haves. I don't want to do anything that might mess anything up or cause pain.  I know that there are a lot of changes we all have to make and if this is one of them then I can do it.

Diet Dr. Pepper.... U WILL BE MISSED!

Thanks for eveyones posts! And thank I am proud and very happy to be on the LOSER'S BENCH!

my understanding is the bubbles can't escape like they used to and therefore will cause pain.  Luckily, for some reason, I lost my taste for soda/pop a few months ago. Now it tastes nasty. I'd rather go without than drink flat Dr Pepper.

Soda and anything carbonated are not good for your band.  In almost 2 years I have not had any soda with the exception of one mixed drink I had at a party and I let it sit for awhile before I drank it.  Not sure if that helped or not.  I didn't have any problems but I do try to avoid anything that could cause me to have a problem with my band.

Hello-
I've seen a couple of notes on here regarding OH Conferences, and was wondering how I can go about signing up for one?  I had my REALIZE band inserted on 3/30/10, but had lost 40 lbs pre-op.

I find this site very helpful, and thought any additional conferences/learning experiences would be even better!

Please let me know when you can - Thanks!
Cynthia

If you go to the events tab at the top of the screen, you will find the oh conferences and links to sign up.  There is one in Houston in Nov.  If you go to an OH support group, your group leader will have codes for a discount for registration fee.  THese are always good events.

There are many new studies out.  Your brain does not know th diference between diet and regular sodas.  You dink a diet and your brain will respond with elevated blood sugar, crash for you and a vicious cysle starts of cravings...highs..lows.   Just walk away!

Of course you should follow your doctor's orders....but I do have diet soda from time to time and I will put a lot of ice in it and allow it to sit for a minute to allow some of the bubbles/carbonation to escape from it.
